Description: We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You’ll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at this true-blue waterfront institution. Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. No matter what, libations are always in order at this locals’ favorite gathering place. Everyone is welcome at Brophy's, hope to see you soon.

“My new "spot" in Santa Barbara”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This place was recommended by a local so I knew it would be good. There was a bit of a wait but it was well worth it. Be sure to get the sea bass, it's local which of course means super fresh. The clam chowder is also excellent. The house red wasn't half bad either. I will hit this place every time I am in Santa Barbara.

“Fresh Fish with a Refreshing view of the Harbor”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

The outside balcony is great and we could hardly imagine they graciously accommodated our party of 10 with 8 in a corner table and a table for two right close.I chose the thresher shark sandwich, the fish of the day, and was impressed with it's mild taste. A friend had the scallops and I was amazed at the number of about 30 small scallops I was a tad jealous!

“Great view of the harbor”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The food here is pretty good, but the view of the harbor from their enclosed "patio" just can't be beat. The service is good, even when they are really busy. Sometimes the energy of a really popular place makes it even more fun. Brophy Brothers is a notable example of this. I might not go there for a special evening, but it's a great place for a casual "date night" meal.

“So-so kitchen, top marks for local color”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

Every seafront town has a no-frills restaurant where the fish is fresh-caught, the vibe relaxed and the crowd full of happy locals. Brophy's may not be Santa Barbara's best riff on that theme (we never had a chance to find out), but it's fun to eat here even though the cooking is only average. Lining up for your table is like joining a rollicking social club that welcomes all comers. Servers really hustle to take care of all the packed tables, but they still take time for the personal touch. Avoid the house chardonnay!
