My wife and I recently got married in Santa Barbara and had our reception at the maritime museum. What an awesome experience we had, everyone loved it! It is such a cool place to hold an event and you are right there on the harbor as well which makes for some awesome pictures and great views. Inside the museum is great and the only decorating that we did was centerpieces on the tables which they provided. We used Chuck's Waterfront Grill to cater which is right next door and that worked out great and saved us some money. The staff set up our slideshow of through the years on their TV right in front of the dance floor. My parents had also made us a video and they played it in a loop in the upstairs theater. The whole experience was amazing and everyone that attended has been raving about it!

Nice change of pace from the normal tourist places in Santa Barbara. Nice history of the harbor and of the channel islands. Small but lots of displays. Interesting section on the 1969 oil spill.

We took "Toot" from the Wharf across the harbor and landed in front of the museum. The price was great since we had a coupon. The kids worked on a scavenger hunt that took them to each exhibit--good planning on their part. There were lots of interactive things to explore as well. Lots of restaurants on the boardwalk as well. Took the Red Line Trolley for a quarter back to the Wharf. Fun trip.

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum team has assembled a wonderful collection, beautifully displayed, all in a fabulous waterfront location. In a few short hours I learned much about SB's sea history including glimpses of the Chumash Indians, Channel Island timelines, great wrecks including the PMSS Co. Winfield Scott, abalone fishery, etc. And a great hands on kids section.

This is down by the Harbor and has restaurants all around it. We stumbled upon it and wanted to give it a try. I think it is $6 for adults and $3 for kids if you have a big group. The kids get to do a treasure hunt through the museum. It was informative and a good break from the sun.
