“A Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

While we were only there for two nights, the accommodations were very comfortable. The architects made the most use of limited space. The only negative aspect was the proximity to the Amtrak tracks. (Within 100 yards.) Fortunately the trains did not run all night long. In spite of that very minor irritation, I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

The staff was most hospitable and extremely helpful.

Our expierience at Hotel Indigo was five stars on every level. Everyone on staff clearly represents professional uplifting service and is a proven asset to the hotel itself. Frank. Frank is a must meet at Indigo, if he is there when you check in, make it a point to shake his hand. His professional genuine service is refreshing to expierience.
This outstanding hotel will keep me coming back.

Stayed here in what was previously a cheap, run down motel. Now money has been invested but the rooms are still of course tiny. And I mean tiny. No rooms have been knocked into one and where many rooms previously had no en suite facilities; they all do now...squashed into the same, already, cramped space. No room to open your suitcase even.
V noisy being next to the railroad too. I can see why it was a cheap motel location but also with no real facilities to boast of yet (it opened this year), they shouldn't charge the rates they do now. Not worth it.
To crown it, when mentioned the small room to the receptionist, she gleefully announced "yes, they are European Style!", as if that was the intention. Really? Coming from Europe, I felt offended on behalf of my fellow Europeans in that, is what they tell everyone? The cheek! Apparently, (upon probing), her opinion was based on a tiny hotel (maybe it was a hostel?) she once stayed in, in Prague.
The one star i rate it here might have scraped two but I have downgraded it to reflect a more "European Style" review.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. We understand this hotel used to be a low grade motel with no en suite facilities. The owner has simply shoehorned a bathroom into already tiny rooms - less than a foot either side of the bed, and no room for luggage. You have to turn side on to get into one side of the bed. The shower room is tiny, and the shower is formed by the moving of a shower screen from against the wall to touching the toilet. Not very hygienic! Plus the bathroom door is glass and does not close tightly, so not the place to stay if you are shy. The blinds aren't blackout blinds, so when the sun comes up, so do you. But the very worst thing is the noise. Trains run literally straight past the hotel, and all sound their horns several times as they pass the hotel - there is not a 'quiet side' to the hotel - if a train passes you will know about it, and they pass often. Added to this, refuse is collected at 5.40am, and that woke us up. We ended up having to ask for ear plugs, and still struggled to sleep. The double glazing just isn't up the the job, if you want a good nights sleep. They also don't have room service/ restaurant/ bar, which you would expect for a hotel with the room rates they charge. Sure, the refurb looks nice enough - some stylish furnishings, etc, but a good night's sleep and a comfortable room is far more important.

We stayed at this Santa Barbara hotel on our honeymoon. It was fantastic! The decor was spectacular, and the location ideal. We walked to the warf, had breakfast at D'Angelos, and walked up and down State Street to different bars and restaurants. I couldn't believe the price for a hotel in that area. This is the place you must stay in when you visit Santa Barbara!

The rooms are...efficient. Some of the ground floor rooms have lovely little patios, so that really opens up the space if you enjoy being outside.
If you're an HBO junkie, they have all flavors.
The location would be fantastic if the train tracks weren't so close.
The beach and wharf are an easy stroll away.

I stayed at the Indigo Hotel from 5/7-5/10 for a convention. The hotel is convieniently located on State St which is the main drag with all the bars and restaurants. Everything is walking distance which makes this hotel a great spot. The pier is approximately 300 yards from the hotel. The staff (Amber) was very friendly and assisted with all needs. Well the hotel rooms are a shocker at first. They are clean and contemporary but more like a closet. Those are the smallest hotel rooms I have ever seen. Another negative point is the hotel is right by the train track. So at 1130 pm I was sound asleep when the Amtrak or the surliner whichever it was blew the horn at full magnitude multiple times. This made me fall out of bed almost. The parking is right next to the hotel in a fenced in lot. Hotel offers no breakast. Restaurant is in the works I heard. Not a bad place but the train makes it a nightmare.
