“Turn Key Glamping in Gorgeous Setting”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This review is long over do! I stayed at El Capitan Canyon months ago and everything was perfection!! We stayed in a cabin and it was incredibly cozy. There is a small kitchen, bathroom and a loft upstairs. Glass french doors lead you out to the porch with wide steps leading to your back yard. There is a fire pit and a beautiful extra large picnic table made from fallen trees.

Everything you need is on site. Did you forget to stop and get firewood they have it. Do you have a hunger for S'mores they sell kits right down to the skewers, need a bottle of wine well it's right in the store , which also sells a variety of yummy food! I however came ready to cook on our fire pit, which was right behind our cabin!

Every morning I would light my fire and we would take a hike around the beautiful property. Meanwhile back at our cabin the amazing housekeeping team was busy cleaning they even mopped the floors!!!!

Even though there were cabins on both sides we still felt secluded since the layout has them staggered and we backed up to a creek so it felt very private. The only beings coming into our view were the deer walking through our backyard every morning. It was soo peaceful.

The entire staff is friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. I would recommend anyone who loves camping but doesn't want to haul a ton of camping gear, especially for a weekend trip. We stayed 2 nights and were able to enjoy every minute of our trip because we didn't waste anytime setting up and tearing down a campsite!

I cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: For a more secluded and quiet experience I highly recommend a Cabin!

El Capitan Canyon is a magnificent blend of a rustic camping experience mixed with the comfort of a fine resort. The accommodations vary between tents equipped with 5-star hotel quality bedding, lighting and a heater, to yurts and cabins. The property is in a breathaking canyon. It is a great place for families and for groups looking for an unusual getaway. We go here every Memorial Day weekend with a group and it has made for wonderful memories for our family and friends. Check it out. I highly recommend it!

My friends and I have been "glamping" (glamorous camping) at El Capitan Canyon every Memorial Day for 6 years. We love this place! Our group of 35-50 is able to reserve cabins in the same area which allows us to easily share coffee and breakfast in the morning, make lunches, eat dinner together and of course roast marshmallows and sing around the campfire every night. The canyon is super safe so even from a young age our kids have been able to have independence to explore in groups. The Saturday morning llama hike is great for the little ones and we all love the BBQ with live music on Saturday night. The Canyon Market has a great selection in case you have forgotten anything or you can take advantage of their cafe. For activities there's a heated pool as well as open space for group games, volleyball, sack races and El Capitan State Beach is just across the road with plenty of daytime parking.

Room Tip: The tent cabins are great for more of a "camping" experience but the cabins include privat...

we arrived late at night (another booked host cancelled our stay 1 hour before arrival), so we asked here for a room. they offered us a great cabin on short notice to a very fair price, and in distance to the group of children nearby. so the night was quiet, the room hat even a fireplace and we could use the pool til 10 pm. great place to stay longer than 1 night, and very friendly serivce from anyone.

Room Tip: there are small cabins, bigger cabins and also tents.

We went to El Capitan on Mothers Day weekend 2013 We had a Cabin Creek King. Beautiful cabin! The oversized tub with the big window that looks out to the trees was awesome. Bring your bath bubbles! Also bring all your cooking utensils. They have paper towels and toilet paper and bedding that's about it. Bring your own pillows because theirs are not the best. Bikes are a must. because it's a car free canyon. They have bikes, but you can only have them 2hrs. at a time. At the canyon store they pretty much have everything you need. Pricey though. Bubble bath was $20.00. It had dust on it. The Canyon grill was ok. I would bbq your own food. Don't forget the charcoal. They also have a small frig., microwave and coffee. Housekeeping service too. There were tons of kids there on the weekend. If you want a quite camping experience go during the week. We had a wonderful Mothers Day Weekend at El Capitan!!

For the price, the cabins are very overpriced - granted, we were there for New Year's, but for the cost, I would've liked some better amenities, like even a bundle of starter firewood or s'more fixins'.
The bathroom was super dated & no hot water after one person took a shower. Utensils not provided in the kitchenette, which seemed amiss. Would stay there again, but have lowered expectations & our friends who slept on the pull out sleeper sofa in the living room were super unhappy as it was very uncomfortable.

My wife and I first stayed here in 2008 (before we were married) as part of a birthday trip to Santa Barbara wine country. We were amazed by how beautiful the property is, how clean and comfortable the tents and cabins and all the amenities are, and how helpful and friendly all the staff are.

Two years later, we were looking for the perfect wedding venue and we both thought how amazing it would be to get married there, but didn't think it was even possible. We spoke with Terry, the manager/event coordinator who spoke to the owners and we were able to have all of our friends and family stay on the property and be with us for the most amazing wedding weekend we could have possibly imagined.

Since then, my wife and I have stayed at El Capitan Canyon when she was pregnant, when our son was 9 months old, and just recently, after he turned two. We plan to come back as often as we can as our family grows.

This is a perfect spot for families, for a romantic weekend, or for getting away in quiet solitude for a while. The property combines first rate amenities and all the comfort of staying at a glamorous resort with the feeling of being out in nature and away from the hustle bustle.

I can't say enough about how amazing this place is and can't wait to stay again.
