Description: Cadiz Restaurant & Bar offers a Seaside Cuisine influenced by flavors from the seaside villages of Italy and Spain. Cadiz offers tapas, pastas, flatbreads, seafood, and entrees. The menu is seasonally driven, and all produce is bought from the local Farmer's Market right outside our front door. Our wonderful selection of seafood dishes come from local, harbor fresh seafood, purchased daily. Our mixology bar offers seasonal, market-fresh cocktails, and on weekend nights Cadiz transforms into an upscale European style bar/lounge at 10:30 until 2am.

Cadiz is a new restaurant toward the southern end of State Street. We took the recommendation of friends and arrived early (6:30 P.M.) to get a table. Fortunately we hit the spot at the right time as Santa Barbara was celebrating "Fiesta" and we were entertained by a walk-in Mariachi band. The decor was Spanish and the bare walls and tile floors didn't do too much for conversation but the service was good and the food was excellent although the menu was a little on the short side. If you like the "busy" atmosphere of the tourists wandering around in the downtown area, this restaurant offers location.

The place is beautiful, great full bar, candlelights, outdoor seating, very chic and modern but still cozy atmosphere.
The menu has tapas and other specialties like pastas, fish, flatbreads. It was good, a corn chowder, fetuchini with clams, very nicely prepare.
The crowd was intereresting... a display of younger beautiful Californians, the girls with the little dresses, etc but very elegant at the same time, I assumed they are older that the college kids walking around downtown, drinking, etc. So we wer delighted to see the "fashion".
The music was not good, but then I guess for us in our 50's and eating at almost 10 pm, the atmosphere was more for the bar crowd...maybe earlier is better, we would have like to listen to some spanish guitars, good jazz or so but it did not bother us anyway, it went along with the ambiance!

We ate at Cadiz first time on a Thursday evening and enjoyed the front patio during happy hour. $7.00 till 7:00

We tried the lamb skewers, chicken kabobs, ahi tuna, summer bean salad with balsamic reduction and fried egg, and broiled shrimp with gazpacho. Yum

The food was fresh and well made and we enjoyed every bite. The chef's combinations were creative and refreshing. We ate each dish as intended(do not omit the fried egg from the bean salad).

The patio was a little loud as there was a table of four boisterous women sitting across from us.

Our waitress was attentive and the food arrived timely. We will definitely recommend Cadiz and will return.

We shared five plates between the two of us at Happy hour. The seafood risottomis the best I've had. The seafood --shrimp, scallops and Ahi Tuna-- were perfectly cooked with imaginative flavors. I've had better Sangria, but the server suggested a lovely red wine. Excellent servicej, and lovely decor. We sat outside and enjoyed the street life of Santa Barbara. Highly recommended .

We were walking up State St and a customer commented on our pug and we had a conversation and this is when I notice their happy hour. The couple that was leaving were local and recommended the place. We talked to the owner and he invited us and the pug sit at an outdoor table. The scallops were perfectly cooked with a pesto that was coarse not processed to death and flavorful, the saffron risotto excellent with the hint of lemon and the ahi with the citris salsa wonderful. Yes portions may be seem small (for us it was perfect) to some but the flavors were gigantic! Again, we were here during happy hour pricing. We enjoyed conversing to all the staff. The decor is beautiful. Slow down and enjoy this place and people watch State St.
