Description: Surprised not to see this on your web site - many people (myself included) consider it the best Mexican Food in Santa Barbara. Service also excellent, at least when they are not crowded, which the often are! Just down the street from another outstanding (but simpler) Mexican Restaurant, La Super-Rica Taqueria.

“Not what we expected”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Having read that this restaurant was rated the best Mexican eatery in Santa Barbara we thought that this dinner would be memorable.
My general rating for this place would be average.
My husband had the enchiladas suizas and they were very mediocre, drenched in cheese. My pescado a la veracruzana was better than his choice but also, so so. The only redeemable dish was the dessert, we were happily surprised with the corn pudding with caramelized sugar. If it is offered in the menu, do order it , it is delicious. Ambiance is casual and prices reasonable.

“Try the Parrillada!”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

I’d recommend Parrillada, which includes a combination of steak, salmon, shrimp and chicken. And it comes with tortilla, guacamole and sour cream. It’s just yummy and the portion is good enough to feed two adults! This item is not on the menu so just ask! The restaurant also has salsa bar so you can mix and make your favorite salsa. The parking lot is small though and street parking is not easy to find.

“Great. Period.”
Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

This was such a great experience for the two of us. We found it based on TA reviews. In somewhat off the main part of Santa Barbara, but decent neighborhood. It was busy even fairly early on a Friday night. We had seafood ceviche with cucumbers, avocado, pineapple and a light green, light citrusy sauce/juice. It was so unique and delicious. We then split the Carne Veracruz, a combination of a very tender strip steak, plantains, stuffed peppers. Everything was delicious. They have a walk-up salsa bar with about a 1/2 dozen different salsas and pico de gallo. Endless chips brought to the table. You order your food by getting in line (it moves quick) and reading from their menu and the specials board. Beer on tap and bottles and wines as well as soft drinks. They then deliver the food to your table. Very efficient and very attentive staff, several of them came around to check on the tables. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, and a great value to boot!

“Horrible Customer Service!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

Was in SB along our hwy 1 coastal drive. Arrived at the restaurant and there was no host or waitress available to seat us. We sat in an evidently open table and was asked to move because it was reserved. No reserved sign --just a table number, I guess was the indicator. Moved to another table and sat there for about 10 min before a bus boy informed us to order upfront. Horrible that we were asked to move but we're never informed of the way the place worked. Seemed the staff at the front were to busy with their conversation to pay attention to paying customers. Food is good but lacks greatly in service.

“Love love love!!”
Reviewed November 11, 2013 via mobile

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I was dying for Mexican food, I love the laid back style and ordering setup of this place. It has all the right ambience despite being more or less cafeteria style. Affordable, a ton of delicious, flavorful food, great location and awesome experience. I will definitely go back next time I am in Santa Barbara.
