We are very picky on Chinese food, China Pavilion was our best brunch during our 10 days trip at west coast. Good environment, great service and the most important - you can enjoy the very genuine traditional Chinese cuisine, and they provide English menu.

There are no rolling carts, you order from a special menu. The dishes are as good or better than in the restaurants in LA's Chinatown. Served on Sat and Sun only. Quite popular so go early or wait a bit for a table. Very pretty decor. Service was very fast and friendly. Try the chicken feet for something different. Very satisfying meal.

This restaurant, centrally located downtown, has been a staple in Santa Barbara for years, though under different ownerships. In decor, cleanliness, and table service, it far outdoes almost any other Chinese restaurant in town. The dishes are simple but perfectly prepared and served promptly and hot. We especially like the War Won Ton Soup and the Beef with Broccoli. There is a full bar but we prefer hot tea. Caution: Do not confuse with the similarly named restaurant on Coast Village Road in Montecito. We much prefer this one.

This restaurant is touted as the "best", but is clearly overrated. Our Chicken Soft Noodles and Sweet & Sour dish were good, but the Vegetarian Pot Stickers and Hot & Sour Soup were not to our liking. A poor substitute for the Chinese in S.F.

I'm very picky about Chinese food. The veges have to be crisp and fresh, and the chicken has to be trim, well cooked but tender. Add all that to a white wine or garlic sauce and that's my favorite dish. Tried many a Chinese restaurant and not many can pull this simple dish off well. Took a party of 12 there in July 2013 and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. Only problem is that for large parties they do not prepare more than 2 checks per table. :(
