Not a super comfy place, but the coffee is delicious and I enjoyed my blueberry muffin. It is so popular with the locals, who were streaming in and out whilst we were there. It was nice to soak up the local vibe. On Saturdays, there is a farmers market across the road. The fruit and veg looked amazing and we enjoyed a wheatgrass shot.

This is a great coffee house and the new location on Anacapa is wonderful BUT, if you are LACTO intolerant and refuse to use GMO soy products, you are out of luck. No Rice Dream or Almond Milk offered with those perfectly prepared lattes.
So, wise up French Press and get with the program adopted by the other cafes in town.

Loved our coffees, the atmosphere, the vibe, everything about French Press and the long line proves I'm not alone in my views.

I don't mean to sound pompous or pretentious and non-Aussies can probably tune out at this point... but in 5 trips to the US, this was the FIRST decent cappuccino that I have had, so well done guys. It could easily have been served in Melbourne without raising suspicion.

I think the barista's name was Dan (young bloke with Where's Wally glasses) and it turns out he learnt his craft in Idaho. He managed to get everything right, especially temperature of milk and tightness of froth (too often the latter has been like sea-froth over here).

Price reasonable and as others have noted, the cafe is full of pretentious types, all of whom are sitting one to a table tapping away at their MACs.

(Have subsequently had a second decent coffee in San Diego, Cafe Ittalia, maybe the tide is turning).

They roast their own on site. A very casual, and centrally located not far from he beach on State Street. A prior reviewer got it right with an edgier clientele.
