“Returned for a 2nd mini vacay - Service was spectacular!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

This is our 2nd holiday vacay at The Biltmore. We had such an amazing time last year, we decided to return again and this time we were able to enjoy the spa, and the restaurants.

We had requested the same cottage we had last year, but was given one closer to the train tracks. The noise was bearable, just that my 20-month old toddler was scared everytime the loud train went by...We were glad he slept through the night.

Our first night sleep was not too pleasant because the crib they gave us was really small. During spa the next day (which was spectacular), I mentioned lightly to the therapist, joking about our son's feet on my face the entire night...and VOILA. 10 minutes after returning to my room, a man showed up with a large roller bed, without me even requesting for one and he set everything up for us so that my son could have his own bed. We were WOWED! AMAZING!!!

We had room service twice and ate at Bella Vista 3 times; once for Sunday Brunch which was so so for me, but my husband liked it, once for afternoon tea, which we thought was rather underwhelming, and once for dinner which we thought was REALLY scrumptious (especially the buttered truffle pasta!).

Overall an amazing experience albeit the rain for 4 days straight. And my son was given cute little Beenie babies everywhere he went!

We spent our first anniversary here. Stayed at San Ysidro Ranch for our honeymoon and decided to try this property by the beach this year. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne and strawberries in our room. Had a wonderful stay in a deluxe cottage suite. Exceptional service. Really impressed with in-room dining service. Food was prepared and delivered perfectly. Wonderful spa treatment with a very knowledgable massage therapist, in a room with an ocean view so you can hear the waves during your massage. Excellent service from everyone at the hotel. I thought it would be hard to beat San Ysidro Ranch, but we were pleasantly surprised. Great to be across the street from Butterfly Beach and have access to the Coral Casino. Looks like we will have to alternate between the two properties now.

Room Tip: Cottages offer more privacy. Some people complain about the train, but it is really not that loud...

O.K. I must admit it's now a few years since I was last at the legendary Biltmore but going by recent Tripadvisor posts it has not lost its status as a top location. Speaking of location, I have travelled extensively over the past 20 years and I can't think of any places that would better the beautiful approach to this hotel, on a golden sunny evening it's pure paradise. Decor is wonderful, none of your so-called "designer" crap which by the way is usually a pseudonym for someone who hasn't got a clue in their head about appropriate design. The Biltmore was built in an age when design meant real talent. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this part of the world!

My favorite hotel. I love going here for a conference most year so I can afford it. The hotel has been beautifully redecorated. Ask for a cottage which are huge rooms and very well appointed. This classy hotel is warm and inviting without being stuffy. The restaurant is very yummy but the cost is steep. Oatmeal, juice and toast for $35. Suggest that you eat in either near by Montecito (try Chava) or Santa Barbara. The Christmas decorations were plentiful, joyful and tasteful, as is everything at the Biltimore. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Cottage room 482 was huge and very nice.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The gardens are stunning, the architecture and charm of the buildings and grounds make for a very special sense of place. Add to that the direct ocean front setting in Santa Barbara and you can't go wrong staying at this historic property!

Rooms

We booked a Deluxe Suite category and were placed in the main building. Huge living room with fireplace, patio, a large bedroom and a luxurious bathroom with beautiful heated tile floors. Decor was restrained and conservative in a typical Four Seasons fashion. Also typical of Four Seasons the furnishings were practical and comfortable.

Service

Typical Four Seasons service. Prompt, professional service delivered with a Southern California casualness. Many of the staff have been there for years. Housekeeping and front desk were quick and efficient.

Dining room waitstaff were a bit slow and disorganized. We had breakfast a few times and one dinner in the hotel and were not overly impressed with the service nor quality of the F&B.

The main hotel pool, not the oceanfront pool, does not have attendants nor waiters. When ordering food the guest is expected to walk to the unstaffed attendant's stand and pick up the phone and ring room service. Very tacky and slack for a Four Seasons. And unjustifiable when paying FS prices for food and beverage!

Spa & Gym

I had an excellent massage; the facility is very pleasant yet nothing exceptional. Gym is ample and well equipped for a hotel gym.

Overall I highly recommend this hotel due to the architecture, amazing gardens and spirit that only a historic property can have. Not to mention the perfect beachfront location in Santa Barbara. Back this up with Four Seasons management and service and it's a winning choice!

Room Tip: Deluxe Suites are very large and well appointed.

This property is superb! A piece of California history that should not be missed by any visitor. This time we went only for Sunday brunch, but what a treat. In earlier times we have also stayed at the hotel. Even to stop by for coffee - don't miss stopping by the Biltmore!

The Biltmore was a wonder place to send our 20th wedding anniversary. The hotel and gadens were lovely, plus the use of the Coral Club across the street was an added bonus! We enjoyed being close enough to walk into Montecito for dinner.
