Booked this over the phone as I had a few questions about timing and location. My questions were answered courteously and helpfully. There are two kayaking groups- a morning and afternoon, though everyone leaves at the same time. While the morning group is kayaking, the afternoon group is hiking... Snorkeling was also available with equipment provided by the SBAC. I did not see any on the island and it wasn't one of the options given when we landed. If you want to snorkel, I suggest you bring your own, just in case your experience is like mine. That said, there are plenty of trails to keep you busy and vista points to just settle in and enjoy. The afternoon kayaking session is a bit more abbreviated than the morning session, as the winds tend to pick up later in the day and the ocean gets a little rougher- as it was explained to me. Regardless, we had plenty of time on the water and in the caves. Our guides were exceptional in their knowledge of kayaking- safely!- and about the flora, fauna and history of the area. We had a great time and would do this again. Pack a lunch!

We had never been kayaking before this trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our guides were awesome, sharing lots of interesting information about the area, taking us safely into & out of a lot of cool caves. Highly recommend Santa Barbara Adventure Company!

I would start my review by stating my experience as it went. We met with our instructor/guide at 10:00 am at sea landing harbor point. We found out instructor Christina as very courteous and friendly. She gave detailed clear instructions before we went into water. The trip started maneuvering around some low bridges around harbor before we were in open water. We saw Kelp, star fish and sea lions up close. The total time was around 4 hours with a break at the beach. Lunch was included and once again Christina did an awesome job as she made the preparations for the lunch. We headed back to pier and were done around 2:00 pm. I did kayaking in the river before but kayaking in ocean seem bit more difficult. The fun part was seeing Sea Lions, going under the pier (not the small bridges) and our courteous instructor. Overall the experience was satisfying especially for first time kayakers. Going single is easy then going tandem if you have a chance.

To do something like sea kayaking with a group of people unknown to you really hinges on having a great leader who knows a lot and has a great attitude to guide you through a range of situations (from consent forms to navigating a tight cave with sharp rocks surrounding you) and SBAC has such great guides! Ry was AMAZING on our trip into the caves along Santa Cruz Island. He knows so much about the history of the island, the natural habitat, and of course on how to kayak and advise novice kayakers. We are local and can't wait to go on another trip with him or another SBAC guide. We did the all day trip so that we kayaked in the morning and then used SBAC's snorkeling equipment in the afternoon.

I recently had the opportunity to go on a guided Kayak tour at Santa Cruz Island and it was such a fantastic time. Our guides were really relaxed and very fun to be on a tour with. There was never a point where the tour was boring or not fun. The guides did a really great job of keeping everyone entertained with their knowledge of the ocean and the sea caves around the island. Besides that the island was simply gorgeous and the water was crystal clear. I absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who loves exploring and enjoys a good adventure. Santa Barbara Adventure Company all the way!! We definitely had the best guides and tour experience on the Island.
