Prior to our arrival, I almost canceled our booking at this hotel due to the high number of negative reviews. I'm happy to report that this hotel was not as bad as we had feared. We stayed in October, so we got a pretty good rate. I certainly would not pay $500+ for this hotel, but if you can get a good price, it's not a bad option. The location is excellent. It's right across the street from the beach and it's a short walk to the Santa Barbara Zoo. It's also a short drive to other SB attractions and restaurants. As is the case with other beach hotels/resorts, you really are paying for the location ... and Santa Barbara is not cheap. The hotel does need updating, but again, if you can get a good price, it's not that bad. The rooms are clean and the size of the room is good. The furniture and carpet are old, so it does not feel as clean as a more updated/modern hotel, but it was adequate. My only complaint was that the pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable. I did not sleep well at all the first night because of the pillow. On the second night, I found a better one in the closet, so I had a better night's sleep. As others have mentioned, there is plenty of free parking on the street, so do take advantage of that. There is no reason to pay the steep parking fee for the convenience of parking inside the parking lot. The street parking is safe and plentiful.

This property is on the Boulevard across from the beach it takes up an entire block and has reportedly five buildings though some are attached and it appears that there really maybe only three main buildings there is a nice pool area overlooking a bar that also serves food is comfortable for families There's a restaurant on site and something called a cantina which looks like it may be a bar after hours the exact configuration during the summertime might be different than it is in October which is when we stayed. This hotel has the look of a historic inn with upgrades and has an absolutely beautiful view. It's pricey and even online with special packaging is going to cost you around $1000 for two nights a couple meals and a single room either king or double Couple of warnings to consider. Their check in policies including use of young inexperienced people and they may or may not properly explain things to you on arrival. You have to park, check in, go outside, arrange for paid parking, then go find your room with no bell service. On-site parking is $28 a night. Free parking is available on the street but it's crowded and there's lots of apartments in hotels in the area so it's first come first serve. You will be stigmatized for booking online and they will not guarantee room configuration such as ajoining rooms. We were told we had ajoining rooms and through a mistake they had given the adjoining room two people just before us. I was traveling with a baby as a family vacation and this was a major disappointment. Not the expected Hyatt experience. I noticed that I was not the only guest with problems. The manager was busy running around trying to make up to people so I never made it to the list of management apology. Use of the WiFi is an additional charge. Happiness is a choice so we had a great time but it wasnt without disappointment so be aware of theses issues when booking here. I may go back but not likely with a baby or a larger group.

Room Tip: Pack light you'll be lugging your own belongings no bell service here but there is an elevator and wide halls.
