“Nice B&B with French flair”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Secret Garden Inn is a nice play to stay while in Santa Barbara, in walking distance from downtown.

We stayed in the Wood Thrush room, which is a separate cottage. The claw-foot bath tub is an elegant touch, but there isn't much of counter space in the bathroom.

The bed was comfortable, but where the TV is plugged in, in proximity to the bed, you won't be able to watch TV while in bed. You can only see the TV while sitting in the two wicker chairs near the front door.

There's a twin bed available, but there's no door to the bedroom, so you won't have any privacy if that's what you're looking for. I was a little disappointed in the blankets and sheets; they seemed outdated.

We found the private hot tub to be nice and clean. Thanks for having extra towels and robes available!

The complimentary wine/cheese at happy hour is fun, as is the late-night goodies (be forewarned that they do run out!). Check in early, as there is no staff on-site after dark.

Breakfast is delicious, usually vegetarian and probably French-influenced.

Our stay was comfortable and extremely enjoyable, in no small part because of Madame Dominique's wonderful breakfast of a delicious omelette, croissants, excellent fig and pear preserves, a selection of other breads, delicious bread pudding and excellent poached pears. The best of French home cooking! A relaxed atmosphere and a friendly but independent resident cat complete the picture. We arrived too late for the evening amenities, so I cannot comment, but I look forward to checking them out the next time we stay there.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the few rooms in the main house, which was very nice & spacious, with lots o...

We stayed in the Humming Bird which is a great cottage for those who travel with their pets. Everything was very straight forward no surprises. Quaint and well maintained grounds. Completly fenced and private.Attentive staff who go out of their way to meet each guests needs.

We booked this B & B for it was walking distance to State Street and all of its shops and the price was right. They serve wine & cheese in the afternoon and make a delightful breakfast for you in the morning where you either dine on their patio or inside the main building. Our room was quite comfortable with our own private hot tub just outside our door. For you ladies there is not a lot of room to put your curling iron or flat iron along with make up due to the very little counter space in the bathroom that came with our room but that just might have been with our room and not the others. It was very quite so sleep was not a problem. The room was clean and neat which is always a plus. They have ample parking but if your coming in a RV you will have to find something on the street if that is aloud.

Room Tip: If you want the room with the private hot tub on the outside you will have to ask for it.

I stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast when I went to visit my daughter down in Santa Barbara. The suite I stayed in was 2 rooms and a patio with a hot tub.The bedroom had a nice fireplace, the decor was pretty, and I loved the soft sheets.Owned and operated by a very nice french lady Dominique, who also painted the pretty art hanging in my room. The main house had coffee and tea available all day and a tasty breakfast was included every morning out on the patio, surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants. All the cottages look delightful and I will definitely stay there again on my next visit. Also, it was a short walk to State Street where there are lots of shops and restaurants.A hidden gem, surrounded by gardens and a friendly little cat named Peanut!

Room Tip: Drive to the back of house where you can park for free.It is a quiet neighborhood, so all the rooms...

We stayed at the Yellow house for 3 nights. My brother and his family also stayed there in one of the other rooms. We really liked the place and the house was so nice, but the owner of the place was very cold and unfriendly towards us the entire time. We did not feel welcome at all. She would glare at us. We will not be stayng there again. I do not recommend this place, there are other places that cost just as much and would love to have all of us.
