The wharf is nice but not very large and not alot going on. If you are there you should see it but don't make a special trip. There is a nice tasting room called the Deep Sea wine tasting room. The wine was very good. There are some sea lions that hang around under the wharf and are fun to watch.

For about six years we lived about an hour and a half from Santa Barbara and frequently ran down there just to hang out. This was one of our favorite places to do that. Whether we were in the mood to eat, shop or just stroll, the wharf was a lot of fun.

No trip to Santa Barbara is complete without a stroll on the Wharf. Yes, some of the shops are over-priced and tacky, but the view and fresh air overcome that tourist schlock.

Hold hands, linger for a bit and snap a few pictures. I bet you'll smile doing so on the Wharf :)

My son and I enjoyed the wharf, but the best part was the aquarium on the pier. The staff was amazing, they gave us great information about the sharks, fish, crabs and urchens. It was great to hear the locals also bring sealife that is found to them for further care and rehab. My son is 16 and we were able to spend several hours petting the sharks, urchens (our favorite was the sea hare), plus he was able to drop a net to catch crab or other sea life and a pot to dig through the sand. We were able to look at our findings in the sand under the microscope, which we found interesting. What a great place for a minimal cost.

We parked on the street and then walked along the wharf. There are beautiful views of the Santa Barbara harbor, the city and mountains, and the ocean. We stopped in a little shop for ice cream and enjoyed the ambiance of this historic wharf. Parking is available on the wharf for those who eat at the restaurants there, but the walk is pleasant and enjoyable.
