“Relaxing Stay at the Eagle Inn”
Reviewed June 4, 2007

This was my first visit to Santa Barbara. I researched the hotels and Inns for weeks and decided on the Eagle Inn because of the Whirlpool Jacuzzi Tub for two and the great reviews they received. I was not disappointed. The Inn is located on a quiet residential street, it has a charming ambience. We stayed in Room 105, Deluxe King with fireplace and Whirlpool Jacuzzi. I loved everything about the room, from the private balcony to the elegantly folded towels in the bathroom. It was very quiet with a relaxing atmosphere. Everything seemed recently renovated and was clean. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful, they provided printed directions to resturants on request. The maid service was very accomodating when I asked it she would show me how she folded the towels. The next day our towels were folded in another lovely design. The continential breakfast offered a variety of fresh fruits, bagels, pastries, juice and coffee. The Eagle Inn is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing getaway.

Stayed two nights in Room 210, Deluxe King with Jacuzzi, with its own double french doors, balcony, brand new bathroom, fireplace. Exactly the same room as the one shown in their brochures and on the web. Truly charming, very large room (a large studio really), and a very good breeze coming in through windows on two sides. This building is historic from the 20's so you can't expect terrific soundproofing. We stayed midweek, so maybe people are quieter than on weekends, hard to say. It was SO quiet... the trains were not a problem at all because the tracks are far enough away that you really aren't disturbed by them. The room is directly above the breakfast room, so some might be bothered by hearing the faint sounds of music and someone setting up the food service at 7am. I didn't really notice that much either. Another reviewer complained about paper cups and plates at breakfast, but that doesn't seem to be true anymore: nice ceramic bowls, plates and coffee cups. Really good selection of fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels and what looked like locally made breakfast pastries. Excellent breakfast. I can hardly wait to come back and try one of the self-contained cottages. Lived in SB in the 1980's and like coming back occasionally to enjoy its charm and fantastic ambience. As SB hotels go, the price is really a good value. The cost of lodging in SB is truly epic so it's nice to come across a truly charming place with decent service and amenities. Easy to just walk everywhere from here, or catch the trolley on State. My only complaint was the pillows were terrible... so many hotels don't spend the money on decent, comfortable pillows which can make the experience so much better. I hope the Eagle Inn invests in better pillows, but I'll just bring my own next time just in case.

We spent 2 nights at the Eagle Inn, and it was a great little inn. It is small and quaint and is located a short walk from the beach and Stearn's Wharf. The staff was friendly and very helpful with restaurant recommendations. We had a room with a fireplace and a veranda where we enjoyed our morning breakfast each day. Once we parked the car, it stayed parked. We walked all over town and to dinner each night. We loved the Eagle Inn, and would highly recommend a stay here.

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Eagle Inn! The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. It almost felt like we were staying as a guest in someone's home instead of an inn. The free contintental breakfast was filling and plentiful. It they ran low on an item, it was quickly replenished. They serve a variety of fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, bread, cereal, juice, milk, coffee, etc. Instead of cheap plates and cups, they have very nice stoneware. They have a computer in the breakfast room for the guests. They also have free copies of the local newspaper.

When we needed dinner recommendations and reservations, they took care of that for us. The location is a short 2 block walk from the beach. We walked everywhere! Our room was huge! It had a full eat in kitchen and 2 king sized beds. You could open all the windows and let in that cool Santa Barbara breeze. The hotel is very quiet because of the thick walls. We slept soundly except for when the train went by in the early morning but that did not bother us at all.

They have flat panels TV's in the rooms and a DVD player. You can check out DVD's at the front desk. The hotel is charming with painted walls, high ceilings, plants, local art and coffee and cookies in the lobby. We got to know the staff during our stay and they were really top notch. The parking is plentiful and the price is really a good value, considering it's in Santa Barbara!

We highly recommend that you stay at the Eagle Inn!

The Eagle Inn is lovely, small, friendly, and just perfect for a relaxing stay in Santa Barbara. Our standard room was not huge, but very comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The TV was tucked inside a charming armoire, and we were impressed by the pretty yellow painted walls with crown molding as an added touch. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. From helping out with special requests, to making our dinner reservations for us, they did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The place is just adorable. I look forward to staying there again.

My wife and I stayed at the Eagle Inn. Absolutely loved the room, it was much larger than what we were expecting. The jacuzzi was awesome. The room had quite a few nice touches like champagne glasses, flat screen TV etc..

We did face two issues though...
1) The breakfast really sucked. When you're spending $300+ a night, the least you can do it is to keep the breakfast table stocked up. Saturday morning we there was no attendent -- no coffee, no bread, no orange juice no nothing. Servie was not much better the next day.
2) No parking. We had to park on the street a block away from the place !

My sister, mother and I stayed for two nights at The Eagle Inn in March 2007. The Inn was an easy walk through residential streets from the Amtrak station on Market St. It was also a very short walk to Cabrillo, the main drag that runs along the ocean. The Inn is at the corner of Bath street, and all of the inns we saw on Bath St. looked really charming and nice. Quiet, beautiful residential street.

Everything at The Eagle Inn was top notch! It was very clean, had very nice towels, linens, carpeting, furniture, etc, plus nice touches such as tea and cookies in the afternoon and the local newspaper in the lobby.

The beds were comfy and the room was roomy (we had the double queen room) and had a ceiling fan. The bathroom is a little small - it has a nice tiled shower (no tub) but was a bit cramped. It has a pedestal sink, which is charming, but not much space for 3 women to spread out their stuff! But 5 little shelves helped out a lot.

They hosted a free wine tasting event the evening we arrived, which we really enjoyed. It was a great way to start off our weekend, which included 2 more days of wine tasting (btw, we loved Gainey, Kalyra, Firestone, Curtis, and Rusak). Continental breakfast was very nice because of the high quality pastries, cereal, fruit, and tea.

We had a delicious dinner at Emilio's, on Cabrillo, just a couple blocks from the Inn. Service could have been better, but the mushroom tortellini with pancetta and onion, penne with scallops and calamari, and scampi with asparagus and polenta were to die for! We also had great meals at Los Olivos Cafe in the wine country, and at The Palace off of State Street.

  • Liked — Rooms were quiet and spacious; property is very well kept; great location/neighborhood
  • Disliked — A little pricey, but in Santa Barbara, the extra $50 you spend on the room will be well worth it!
