What a memory....we spent two nights at this Inn and I wish it were a week!! From the moment we drove into the parking area to our last goodbye, it was a perfect experience. Beautiful house set in a pretty garden, comfortable room, excellent food - wine and appetizers, dessert buffet, popcorn if you want , and a lovely breakfast on the porch....add a friendly, helpful staff to the list and it equals my idea of a perfect visit. I am certain that my husband and I will return!

Was looking for a special place to stay for our 8th wedding anniversary. Surfed the net and discovered traveladvisor, which led me to read reviews on Simpson House. The reviews seemed to good to be true, but went ahead and we booked it. We were greeted in parking lot on arrival. Felt like we were only ones there. Sergio, who's been there 8 years, felt like our private butler. First class service. Stayed in detached cottage. Unbelievably tranquil setting. Great location. We walked to great restaurants and Stearn's Pier. Tremendous bakers. I'm not the type to leave reviews. Frankly, my expectations are rarely met. We stay in top places usually. This place met/exceeded very high expectations.

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Simpson House Inn this past month while attending the Santa Barbara Film Festival. With the Four Seasons being totally booked (our typical choice in lodging) we were desperate to find a nice place to stay, and selected the Simpson House with a little hesitation, since we are not the type to stay at a B&B.

We ended up being so thankful that we tried something different, and were so impressed with the Simpson House. From the second we pulled in we were warmly greeted and immediately checked in. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS INCREDIBLE.

It is no surprise that the Simpson House is one of the top rated B&Bs in North America, and it has everything to do with the service. We loved the lemonade and cookies that were always present at the main house, and were well taken care of the entire time.

Another big bonus: It is only 2 short blocks from State Street, where all of the shopping and restaurants are....a relatively short walk.

We recommend this beautiful, secluded little retreat without hesitation. If someone from Simpson House happens to read this, please don't change a thing! Keep up the great work....we will be back....

  • Liked — The service was excellent!
  • Disliked — Bathroom was a little small, but this is to be expected at a B&B....

Beautiful, lush gardens surrounded the English Cottage with a loft that was very cozy with its own kitchen and fireplace. Breakfast delivered to our cottage was wonderful- the vegetarian fare was delicious! Walking distance to the heart of Downtown, Paseo Nuevo, The Arlington Theatre, and Mission Santa Barbara. I would stay again and again.

Just returned from a two night stay at The Simpson House Inn. We were greeted as we pulled in and shown around the property while our bags were taken to the Abbeywood Cottage. We were then shown to our room. Check-in was literally handing us our key and signing on the dotted line. I think we were most impressed by how everything was so personallized. From the notes and treat welcoming us, to the truffles left on our bed during turn down and even the breakfast menu welcoming us to our meal. Each person we met that worked at the property knew our names and was there to help with anything and everything.

For our second evening we moved to the main house, the Margaret Simpson Room. It was decorated very nicely, but preferred the Cottage with the tub for two and fireplace. The styles between the two rooms were very different with the cottage being very romantic and cozy and the Margaret being more Victorian. Both beautiful, but we enjoyed the privacy of the cottage and were even able to enjoy breakfast outside our room. There are stone walls designed to make your path and door offset from the rest. We felt as though we were all alone in our garden cottage. In the main house, we were able to hear other patrons and the bed, being antique, creaked each time we moved.

Breakfast both mornings was great. More than enough food and everything was fresh. They even had 3 types of hot chocolate to choose from. Amazing presentation of food both at breakfast and at the evening reception.

While expensive, we had an amazing time at the Inn and can't wait to go back again.

Just checked out of the Simpson House Inn after a 2 night stay. What a wonderful property!!! I believe this place is what chains like Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton strive to be. The very personalized and un-arrogant service is quite a treat. In fact, there are many times that you feel as you're the only one there even though the inn may be full. I really enjoyed the gas/wood burning fireplace and the excellent bath amenities (Kiel's brand). You can't go wrong with the Simpson House Inn. It's close proximity to State St. and wonderful restaurants like Bouchon make it a MUST for me when I visit Santa Barbara!!!!
