I've been in the Condor twice now. First was in March this year, short trip along the Coast and we saw 4 whales.Good trip
In the Summer they run a different trip, going all the way to the Channel Islands. Today they were full but they offered a waiting list, I showed up 15 min before departure time and it was 20 of us on the list, we had to wait until 10am because they wanted to make sure people with reservations got their chance. Fortunately I got in, along with 15 others, calm sea, sunny skies (when we left Santa Barbara was foggy and cloudy) we saw hundreds of what they call common dolphins (for me seeing any dolphin is wonderful) many humpback whales, so many that at some point I didn't know in what direction i should point my camera at, very close encounters with them and a special treat from a calf that decided to play peek-a-boo with our boat. We also saw 3 blue whales and i consider myself very lucky for having this service in town. I've been on boats in San Diego and Monterrey but definitely this was the best trip ever! The staff at the office, the crew and volunteers from Channel Islands were very friendly and helpful all the time in the trip that's why i don't get the bad reviews and maybe I just got lucky with a full day of whales but that is something that you can't predict on a whale watching trip, it's nature, it's the ocean..it's not disneyland =)

Our first experience whale watching couldn't have been better. We saw blue whales, humpback whales and many dolphins. The crew was fantastic. This outfit was 1st rate and highly recommended.

The Condor Express was the best Whale Watching tour ever. The go year around. They go into the Santa Barbara Channel home of over 27 differnt types of whales, sea loins and more. The Whale feed on Quil (they need 4 tons a day per whale, give or take a quil!
The boat is very clean and the staff could not be nicer. Too bad we don't live in this city, as we would go often. You can make your own reservations on your own. We were on a cruise and did reserve our tour with the cruise line.
What was so amazing about this tour day, there were at least 20 whales all around our boat. We were the only boat out there too.

We have been on many whale and dolphin watching trips on the east coast and even in Europe. This was the best - we saw four blue whales, many humpbacks, and countless dolphins. The volunteer naturalists from the Channel Islands were sensational. They knew all about the topography of the islands, the wildlife, and the plant life. They sat down with families and gave interactive mini-lessons to groups of kids. THE BEST!
