Nice shops and restaurants, but a traffic nightmare. narrow street with stoplights every 50 feet, people on bikes and skateboards, and few places to park. If you can, find a place to park and walk it. It is nice but the whole atmosphere is one of congestion

People watching is the thing to do on State Street in Santa Barbara. As Emily Dickinson once said, "The show is not the show, but they that go. Menagerie to me thy neighbor be, fair play, both went to see." You can see just about anything as you walk up and down the sidewalks of State Street. If you are into shopping, eating, having a beer or coffee, looking for Apple products, or just wandering through little side alleys (paseos in Santa Barbara), State Street is the place for you. Great for get-away weekends from LA!

Get on and go into town and get off where ever your fancy is for a quarter. Lots of shops and places to eat. I park on the wharf and walk down to where I can get on the bus. At the dolphin statue.

This is the main drag in downtown Santa Barbara. It's exactly what you'd expect for a main drag in a beach town.... Lots of bars and restaurants, boutique stores, juice and smoothie places.... And did I mention bars?! There are also a lot of historical buildings either on or just a few blocks away from State Street. A definite must if you visit Santa Barbara!
