“Nice”

If you have the time, go to the Old Mission Santa Inés in Solvang. Larger gift shop, less touristy, and I was liked it a little more.

“Not my favorite mission but it has a great view”

I wouldn't spend my money on the entrance fee. However, walk through the neighborhoods and you will see some of Santa Barbara's nices architecture and homes.

“Pretty inside and out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

We took a docent-led tour that lasted close to two hours, longer than we'd have spent if we'd walked around the church, courtyard garden and cemetery on our own, but it added some context you probably wouldn’t get otherwise. I believe this is the only one of the 21 Spanish missions in California that has functioned continuously as a church with an active congregation. An earthquake destroyed both of the church’s bell towers. If you look closely at the façade, you can see the demarcation between the original structure and the reconstruction, though what isn't evident to the eye is the different building materials and techniques. The new section, built to withstand quakes, has a faux finish to make it look like the original stonework. After the tour, there’s a small museum to check out on your own (it includes photos of the mission after the earthquake) and a very pretty rose garden.

“Always good to learn more...”

Typical Mission exhibit. What is interesting is that church services are held here. The 18 minute video offered alot of information. Don't skip it!

“always visit the rose gardens”

We love to drive to the mission and walk through the rose gardens for photo ops. Traffic can be a problem, but it's worth the drive.
