“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We enjoyed looking round the mission having walked about 2 miles to get there! The distances on the map we had were slightly misleading. It would certainly have been easier to take the car as there was plenty of parking space.

Admission was very reasonable, 5$ for adults, 4$ for concessions. The route for the tour was clearly marked so it was easy to find your way around. A video which lasted 18 minutes was available to view and this gave us a brief history of the Mission and how it operates today. The gardens were well kept as were the rest of the grounds. In addition to the mission church there was a museum with exhibits showing how the monks lived and various artefacts. Altogether a very interesting place to visit.

“Beautiful, Community-minded Mission”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

I enjoy the history of the California Missions, and this Mission was no exception. There was a beautifully-maintained garden in a central courtyard, which I enjoyed photographing. There was a school activity going on at the rose garden area and I was impressed by the community involvement at the Mission compound. A very beautiful area and Mission to visit.

It is a beautiful mission. It is a good place to stop by when you're in the Santa Barbara Area. Great for kids to visit for California History! Located in a beautiful neighborhood.

“Interesting history”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Take the red trolley bus up to it, and back again. We had a good time taking the self-guided tour, seeing all the history and old photos. I think the Friars should be out walking about greeting people, though.

“History Preserved”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Another Santa Barbara 'treasure'! Beautifully and historically preserved, one of the best missions, if not the best, I've toured in California! A self-guided tour with interesting artifacts, beautiful landscaping and wonderful architecture!
