One of the many missions in CA, the Santa Barbara mission has a reasonably priced museum and the chapel is open for mass on Sundays and is part of the tour during the week. Nice courtyard and overall an impressive structure to visit for a more relaxing day on your vacation. Great for the history buffs and a look into life as it was during the 'Spanish' era of CA several centuries ago. Also handy to Santa Barbara's Botanic Gardens and the Natural History museum. All three are fairly well priced and could easily be done in the same day....SB is packed with things to do if you've got the time on your hands. Good luck, hope you have a good time when you're here.

I can remember visiting the missions as a child with my parents when we traveled through California and I am still as enchanted by the mission here in my current home town. "Queen of the Missions", the setting alone is gorgeous with a lovely view.
The missions are such an integral part of California's history, I highly recommend a visit.

I enjoyed touring this mission. I've never seen anything like it, since I've never been to this part of California. It was interesting to read about its history, and look at the pretty gardens and see the graves and read about some of the people who lived there. I don't remember how much it cost to get in, but I don't think it was more than $10 and it was definitely worth it.

It's just a mission, I wouldn't say it's something you can't miss, unless you are really interested in history of missions in US etc. It's maybe nice place to have a 10 min walk and take 2 pictures, but nothing more.

It was much more interesting than I expected. We took the self-guided tour and learned a lot about the history of the mission and Santa Barbara.
