“Great Views and it's free!”

Beautiful views from the tower of the Santa Barbara skyline, the ocean, channel islands (on a clear day) and the mountains. November through March offer the best chance for a clear day.

“Good Old Building”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

But that's about it. I don't get what the fuss is all about. I walked away slightly underwhelmed.

It's a good tourist spot, yes. Perhaps it's all relative -- if I were to compare it as a historic landmark to other spots in Santa Barbara alone, I'd probably rate it higher.

However, as an avid traveler, I did feel slightly let down by it all. The view from the top is decent at best, although it is unique for its location and worth checking out once IF you have the time.

“one of my all time favorite buildings in the world!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

Such a statement it makes as you approach the building and the gardens. I love to sit on the grass and just soak up the sun. It's also great that the interiors with the tiles and large timbered halls and rooms are still in use. the tower has the best views over santa barbara. a must for a visitor.

“Most beautiful Spanish Revival building ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

This working courthouse is like no other. Beautiful gardens (featuring a little appreciated collection of rare palms from around the globe). Docent led tours are available at no cost and a trip into the clocktower are a must. (The view is spectacular and the newly-revealed cloock works are fun to see.) If you can -- attend a public event in the gardens. (During Fiesta in early August their is music and dance nightly free of charge and summer nights feature outdoor classic cinema, likewise free). You're likely to see a wedding or two on weekends. Walk around. The architecture is astounding and the interior courtrooms filled with lovely murals, lots of tiles and a fine blending of in- and outdoor spaces.

“One of the best views in downtown Santa Barbara”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Architectual students will enjoy this famous California Courthouse for its Mission design. But photographers need to climb the clock tower to catch a 360 degree view of the Mountains, downtown and the ocean. I believe it is still free. A great diversion for one parent to take the kids while the other is shopping a block away on State Street.
