I have dined at Tangata so many times: with friends or dates, for holidays or along with visits to the Bowers, and for lunch, dinner and featured meals.

The menu has just enough diversity that I can always find something to my liking. The portions are decent and the food always seems fresh. I could recommend practically anything, but I favor the salads and entrées with fish. The wait staff is habitually friendly and attentive.

The interior is modern and roomy, but not huge. The outdoor seating is highly recommended if the weather is nice. The patio borders a very nice courtyard that is popular for wedding and quinceañera photography.

Keep an eye out for: special dinners featuring wine pairings on an evening when the museum is purposely kept open (art + fine dining = a perfect evening). Also noteworthy are the special meals featured for Easter and Thanksgiving, the latter commonly being a buffet at an excellent price.

Park in the museum lots or across the street in the public lots (recommended to avoid the fee for on-site parking).

Bowers has special exhibits called "Bowers after Hours" and Tangata has a special menu just for the occassion. In this visit, the lecture was on Egyptian Mummification of Animals, and so our menu was Egyptian themed.

The portions are adequate, but not overwhelming. In the typical Patina fashion, they mix a lot of creative ingredients to present a dish that's a spin off to the original dish.

The entree was a leg of lamb, but I opted for the vegetarian option wild mushroom ravioli. I tried a bite of the lamb, and while it was tender, I'm still not a fan of the meat. My ravioli was wonderfully prepared, and I was happy with it.

The menu had an optional wine pairing for $15, but the menu didn't have a price and I'm not sure why I didn't ask, but I took the plunge and hoped it wasn't too pricey. Fortunately when the bill came, it was only $35 for a 3 course meal, which was reasonable. Add the wine pairing, and our dinner came to $120 with tip

Eat here whenever I visit the Bowers Art Museum. Owned by the Patina Group, as is Leatherby's Cafe Rouge. Both are excellent. Very accommodating to allergies. Interesting and delicious food presentations. Enjoyable to tour all or part of an exhibit, take time out for relaxation with good food and then return to the museum for more of the exhibitions.

I had a Caesar salad, deconstructed. Two hearts of Romaine, yellow not green, with the normal dressing on top, small piece of toast w/o garlic?, nice Parmesan, nicely grilled chicken breast. I prefer the regular Caesar. Creme caramel good but fruit was half an unripe strawberry, not the raspberry and blackberry pictured in AAA magazine. Sweet potato fries tasty and chocolate Devil's food cake also deconstructed and tasted like a big, rich truffle.
