Description: Little Sparrow is a market driven neighborhood bistro housed in a historic-chic and inviting space. Bright and bold flavors in a romantic atmosphere create an exciting new restaurant concept nestled in Santa Ana's downtown artist village neighborhood. Dinner service at Little Sparrow is fine dining in a semi-casual California bistro. The dining room is light, open, and intimate. Great for a romantic dinner or night out with friends and family. The bar, which feels more like a Paris lounge, features a large selection of house and classic craft cocktails as well as a focused selection of wines and beer. During the daytime, Little Sparrow is a local cafe featuring fresh baked goodies, great coffee, and a variety of hand-crafted sandwiches. Little Sparrow offers eat-in to take out for lunch. Available for private parties.

Quality ingredients help, but sometimes creativity gets ahead of execution. They probably need to simplify some of the dishes that currently sometimes seem to have too much going on at once. I really think they should ask for feedback on some of the dishes, especially some new ones that they are pushing. Our waitress was scatterbrained - and when she giggled out her "favorites," there was little room for confidence, especially when it came to the modest wine list.

The French-American chef provides a wonderful menu with interesting and unusual food items. The waitstaff and hostess are very knowledgeable and friendly, checking in with us a couple of times during our meal. On the down side is the ambience, just bare walls with a 1930s-style floor of small, hexagonal tiles. The noise level is high, partially due to a nearly-full house at the time we dined. Conversation was difficult and if the restaurant can find a way to muffle the noise, this is a wonderful find in a new restaurant. It has a full bar.

Wonderful cocktails to go along with a creative menu. We started with Steamed mussels, sour beer, piquillo peppers, roasted fennel. I had the pork chop and the wife had the halibut we were extremely pleased with both dishes and the mussel starter. We want to go back and try the m any different cocktails and other small plates. Over all great experience.

This was once a local lunch counter café and the owners have turned it into part of the new Santa Ana hip environment. The staff is well trained and welcoming and very knowledgeable about both the food and cocktail menu. The cocktail menu is very inventive and a reason not to order the regular martini. Food was very good.

We just went here last night, and loved, loved, loved it. The atmosphere is so cool, and the bar is really has a great "speakeasy" atmosphere. They have wonderful small bites. We had the popcorn with this special seasoning and it was wonderful. We had the heirloom and burata cheese salad, a faro salad with egg on top. My partner had barramundi fish over quinua, I had a great papperdalle pasta with lamb and peas and our friend had a vegetarian pasta. We all really thought it was great. I can't wait to go back again. It is in the slightly pricey category but well worth it. We need more restaurants like this in Orange County, land of the big chain restaurants. The wait person was friendly and efficient and the owner stopped by to chat with us.
