“Much, much better than it looks!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

This place did not look very promising from the outside but we took the chance as it was right next to our motel.
We were glad we did – the food was not fancy but was excellent quality, very well cooked and a sensible price. The salads were large and fresh and the soup homemade. Service matched, not fancy but very well intentioned and prompt.
This is not fine dining (for that see my review of the Bull and Bear at The Waldorf Astoria, Orlando) but it does not set out to be. What you get here are good ingredients, well prepared and promptly served.
After a long, spectacular, drive down The Big Sur in a Mustang convertible the meal here was the cherry on the top of a great day. So good that we returned the following evening after our day at Hearst Castle for second helpings!

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Good quality food served up in a nice environment.
I had never tried Chowder before but if I experience it again even half as good it'll be good. And the locally caught cod was as good as I get back home.

“Not a good meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

The only redeeming feature of our visit to this restaurant (based on TA reviews) was a very nice bottle of red wine.

I think the range of different reviews for this place may be down in part to different staff. It may also be that breakfast is a better meal to try.

I had the mixed rib and chicken and it was very poor, swimming in barbecue sauce. The chicken was well cooked but the ribs were very tough. The lasagna we had looked nothing like any lasagna we had seen before and tasted processed.

“Great Place to eat!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

Went to this restaurant and had the best food I ever had!!!! The best fruity French toast and the best Denver omelette .. The ocean view from our table was wonderful and the waitress was very nice. Thank you for the great food and service I will come back to my next visit to the coast.

“Don't bother!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

Poor quality food, unfriendly service, 6 cold steak fries (!) with a bbq combo meal and not much meat on ribs. Expensive for what you get. Our best suggestion would be to eat before you arrive in San Simeon. We don't really know how this place was so highly rated on Trip Advisor. Best thing... the olympics was on the TV!
