This hotel was convenient as a one night stop-off while travelling the coastal highway 1. The staff at check-in and check-out were friendly and helpful. Free soda refills at the restaurant. Although the room was clean and larger than expected for a motel, I wasn't impressed with the squeaky, uncomfortable sheets and the ant infestation. The noisy extractor fan in the bathroom sounded like a helicopter taking off (you could also hear the neighbour's fan) and the toilet blocked way too easily.

We didn't have breakfast there, but tried the restaurant out for dinner. The server barely had a grasp of english and did not serve what I ordered. What they did end up serving was greasy and had little flavour.

Generally, the property just has a cheap and outdated feel to it, even though it was more than $100 for one night's stay! It's okay if you have nowhere else to stay for a better price. But really, there are some better motels up and down the strip where this Motel 6 is. I suggest you try a few before deciding on this one.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor, road facing side of the second block have no view at all.

We will be back again! We were a litte scared at first when walked in the carpet in the hall ways were a little dirty. But as we opened the door we were very surprised. The room were great!! We travel to San Simeon for a wedding and only needed a place to sleep. This place met our expectations! We loved it. Not bad for the price!! We got a double room with a microwave and fridge the room was clean and spacious!! The TV was older which was ok. Comfy beds the walls are a little thin. But that was ok too, everything else made up for that. Very nice staff, nice location we were able to walk to the ocean and walk on the sand. The restaurnat attached to the building offers Breakfast buffet for 6.95..

Motel 6 in my opinion certainly seems to be cleaning up the image of grubbing cheap locations they once had. That is unless I have been lucky staying in good clean locations twice in a row. Sure, the towels are still small, but they are at least newer and thicker. No alarm clocks etc. But they are an economy brand so extras will be less. But taking everything into context, I am finding them a good clean motel room for the price charged.

This location in San Simeon was clean and well kept both inside and out. The staff was helpful and pleasant, and it had no complaints at all about this Motel 6.

The down side was the location. It is absolutely in the middle of nowhere. There is nowhere to eat apart from the restaurant on the premises. I don't know if the restaurant is owned by Motel 6, but the prices charged are definitely not Motel 6 prices. Everything in the restaurant is really expensive and the quality mediocre. There is a breakfast buffet for 6.99. Content was so-so but quality was bad. Sausage, bacon, eggs, waffles, flapjacks were nearly cold. The sausages were dried out and hard. Coffee and juice was extra cost.

Add all this in with a tip to the price of the motel room and you maybe better planning your route different and staying with a chain that gives a free breakfast. But as I said previously, they are in the middle of nowhere and probable most of the traffic is drop-in, so I guess the rip of will continue.

My suggestion if you are heading up PCH. Is to have a dinner at lunch time elsewhere and pack some bagels to eat at supper time and maybe for breakfast too.

Room Tip: I paid 60.00 instead of 55.00 and got a room with two queens, a fridge and a microwave.

This Motel 6 has slightly larger rooms than most Motel 6's. The location is just off Hwy 1 on the coast. Some of the second story rooms even have a sighting of the ocean, at least you can tell it is water not land. Keep in mind only small bars of soap are furnished so bring your own toiletries. The motel seemed relatively clean. Coffee is available in the lobby in the morning. It is considerably less expensive than most of the other area motels/hotels. The Wi Fi , for which there is a charge, at least in my room, was quite good. Just remember it is a Motel 6.

It was getting late in the day and we were looking for a relatively inexpensive place to sleep. On checking in I was quoted the Senior Rate which hit the spot after a few expensive nights. The room was sparsely furnished, there were no amenities such as shampoo and hairdryer. The television was an older model. The beds were comfortable. The hallways were in need of new carpeting and had an odor. It was an adequate stay.
There was a very nice restaurant attached to the motel office.

This hotel is conveniently close to Hearst's Castle. When I tried to book online, it was full. However, when I drove by it at around 6:30 pm, I saw no "no vacancy" sign and went in to check. Apparently there were some last-minute cancellations. I was happy to get the last non-smoking room, and I was also pleasantly surprised to get a 10% senior (over 60 years old) discount. However, the hotel maintenance could have been better. Water leaked from a corner of the ceiling; drip, drip, drip. I put a waste basket to catch the water. In the bath room, there was no shampoo (fortunately I had my own), no shower mat (I almost slipped), but some hairs on the wall. The fan was loud. The TV was an old CRT. Nevertheless, if you want a less expensive place to just sleep, this hotel is OK. Note that the hotel has only two stories, and there are no elevators.

Motel's 6 usually are what they are, clean & cheerful but I think this one was a bit more. Only stayed 1 night en route but would stay again no problem. The room we stayed in was very large with a table & chairs as well as the TV/workstation. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was good. The site also has an 'all you can eat' breakfast buffet as well as a menu. The food was average and there was plenty of it
