“Amazing wildlife!”

A must stop just beside california state route one, wild life just off the road!
Especially those doing the coastal drive between Prismo beach and Monterey bay, highly recommend to stop by and take pictures of the elephant seals covering the entire beach.
Excellent!

“In The Wild..”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

It was a freezing day when we saw the seals on our arrival to San Simeon..it was great to see these huge seals live, play and mingle with each other in the wild. They are always around and we enjoyed it so much we stopped there again the next day to see them one more time before heading up the coast.

“THOUSANDS OF SEALS”
Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

An amazing experience , thousands of elephant seals on the beach , sleeping , fighting , yelling and screaming . We were even luck enough to witness there birth of a new baby seal . That was quite spectacular . Defiantly worth a stop on your way up or down the coast .

“Elephants of the Sea”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

Amazing location to view Elephant Seals in the wild yet close enough to be able to watch all their action and hear their amazing vocal chorus. This is the time to go as birthing happens between mid-Jan to early Feb. I wrote about our experience for the XplorMor Journal. Read and see pics: http://www.xplormor.com/elephants-of-the-sea/ Get out there and enjoy!

“We saw 8 births today !”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

This place is amazing! Where else can you get this close to nature and witness so much so close. There are naturalists all over the boardwalk that explain what is happening during the season you are visiting. We have been here many times and spent several hours watching and photographing the elephant seals. The beach is full this time of year (mid Jan) and it is the height of the birthing season. We saw 8 seals being born today! (We were there 7 hours!) Most people, I think stop for less than an hour on their way up or down highway one. If you are an animal person or a photo person you should plan a day here ... If not then you be happy with an hour. Next month the big bulls start fighting for breeding rights so we will be back to see that too .
