We always stop here when going down the coast. We love the nature of our California coast. It is interesting to share our coastline with visitors from all over the world. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves and are in awe of the natural beauty.

Amazing group of elephant seals. Well worth the stop. Really, quite a photo op. Don't miss it, even if you only stop to listen to the seals and watch them for a few minutes.

Travelling up from Moonstone beach to Carmel we recommend pulling into the car park and walking down the broad walk that overlooks this beach. The wooden board walk means viewers can clearly see seals relaxing on the beach without being intrusive. Thoroughly recommended stop off point.

I was reading several other reviews and I can't say it any better . . . Amazing - they play, carry on and interact with one another well within earshot and eyesight as though unobserved. Would have liked to spent more time watching . . . the large number of respectful viewers seemed to have no effect on the seals - busy or resting. Great Opportunity to see beautiful wildlife. Bring your camera and a sweater if the costal breeze (which I find heavenly) gives you a chill.

It stinks on warm days it stinks a little less on cool days but you should spend time here to see the interaction between the elephant seals. It's interesting how they have cliques that kinda band together or ignore or protect one or another individual seals. It's also cool to see their tracks to and from the ocean. Mostly they sleep but when you see some action watch. They only move I spurts of two or three "ow, ow, ow's". It's funny.
