From the road, the Lodge appears to be an adorable well-kept place with white Adirondack chairs. It's a motel where every room has exterior access. Room lay-out is different with two queen beds not next to each other. Décor was circa 1982, showing its age and definitely had not been updated... ever. At least there was a fridge. The bathroom was horror-movie scary with a flickering overhead light and constant drip from the faucet. No fan in the bathroom, just a small window and my tall husband could not stand fully upright in the shower stall. No tub for our toddler. Towels were thin but at least a towel bar was provided on which to hang them after use. Our room was on the ground floor and when someone walked on the upstairs walkway, it sounded like a heard of elephants. I had a hard time sleeping and could not wait to check out. This is not a 3-star hotel.

Restaurant is large with a varied menu. Pizza was good. Lodge is directly across the street from the beach.

We stayed here after arriving a bit late in the day to go to Hearst Castle. The lady at the desk was very pleasant and helpful. We had a room upstairs and it was clean and comfortable. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant at the motel. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We also had breakfast there the next morning. The restaurant staff are very pleasant. There is a washer and dryer available for guest use - $2 for the washer and $1 for the dryer. Our clothes were dry before the first dryer cycle finished. There is a pool but we didn't use it. Light sleepers may hear highway noise.

Good spot for overnight in central coast -- in our case after seeing Hearst Castle in the afternoon. Nice spot overlooking the ocean right off the PCH. Rooms have a bit of a musty coastal-motel feel but are basically fine. Staff were very helpful and accommodating to our request to consolidate from the originally reserved two rooms to one room. Did not use restaurant but it looked popular. Convenience store next to hotel has 7-11 stuff, a few fruits and yogurts. Fitness center looked recent.

First of all, start with the cons;
No a.c !! And its get hot!
The water flow in the bath room is very weak, thats a major con.
Very pleasant service, from the second we came through the door,till we left.
Free dissent wifi, comes with the room,no extra charge.
A big parking lot,and most important; free!.
The restaurant is very expansive and dosnt deliver. Its worth driving 2 look 4 something ealsh.

We watched the sun set, sipping on $5 margaritas, happy hour until 7pm! The king room was quite small and I would recommend being upstairs as it would be a little quieter. We didn't get a chance to use the pool or gym, but both looked pretty good.

Stayed here one night as a base prior to driving the Big Sur north. Place was easy to find and whilst clean did have something of a 60's feel about it. Room and facilities were clean but some refurbishment would not go amiss, however for our purpose it was ideally placed, and if seeking fairly priced accommodation in this area would suggest considering the Lodge.

I booked this hotel due to a) it's proximity to Hearst Castle, and b) price. After reading other reviews, it appeared that this property is an excellent value. However, after checking in, my wife wanted to leave and forfeit out deposit. The rooms were very old. Not only did was furniture from the 80's, but also the bedding and linens. The sheets had hair in them, the pillow cases had mascara marks. The room was also very small and did not have a/c (fortunately it was cool in the evening).

My wife and I reluctantly stayed the night, without incident. Not being a chain, the standards of this property are extremely low. Having said that, the price and location can't be beat.
