I have been staying here while on business in the area. All staff have been courteous and friendly. Nice front desk and lobby area. Plenty of parking. The rooms are a good size and clean. Quiet for sleeping. Bed is comfortable and TV includes HBO.

The fitness center is on the 1st floor. It is small but clean with water, towels, four pieces of equipment, mats, TV and hand weights. The dining area is close and has a breakfast buffet in the a.m. There is an assortment of juices, coffee, tea, milks, fruit, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, breads, pastries. Also an oatmeal bar. I appreciate the $1 deal when booking on the net for this buffet and you can fix a plate to take to the room. WSJ and USA today available.

On evenings during the recent storms I had room service (open till 10) and the salads were very good, service professional and friendly. There are also vending machines available.

The hotel sits up on a hill. Northgate Mall is just across the street at the bottom of the hill with Peet's, a number of restaurants, Macy's, a theater, H&M, etc. Also plenty of parking.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor (and the 4th?) are Starwood Preferred and had a refrigerator. There are four...

The Northern California Kaiser Permanente Latino Association chose well by having the 2012 Northern California KPLA Service Awards at the Four Points by Sheraton San Rafael.
From the first point of contact there was nothing by a warm and professional demeanor to accommodate all the possible needs for the Association to have this event. In order for an event of this magnitude to come to fruition it is crucial to count on a solid team. This is why the event was a great success and there was not one glitch as it was seamlessly structured. Each and every individual in the team went far and beyond to provide stellar customer service. Thanks a million to Shannon Harrison, Trish Owen, Travis Stroud and each and everyone who worked really hard at providing stellar customer service.

This hotel is quite a find. Conveniently located near the Marin Center / Marine Memorial auditorium.

A large room welcomes you, with wonderful views of the Marin Hills over the rooftop ( just ignore the HVAC hardware on the roof and look past, or crop your photo as I did)

Several surprises: Free WiFi that really works, We usually skip hotel restaurants in chain hotels for dinners but this was convenient and turned out to be a really good restaurant with some refined cooking (Salmon was delicious) Our deal included a full breakfast, which was very complete including fresh omelets cooked to your liking.

Almost everything is perfect, but I have to agree with other reviewers: the bathroom design is plain weird.
The door opens inward to a small bathroom, and persons of a certain girth are going to have difficulties to close the door after going in, unless they climb on the toilet seat. What wrier the architects thinking?

The manager said they were planning to flip the doors, which should alleviate the problem.

This said, I would gladly stay there again

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room facing the hills, beautiful view!

Thank you so much for the review. There are a lot of great places within walking distance of the hotel that make the Four Points location ideal when visiting San Rafael. To follow up regarding the pool- the heater has now been fixed and guests can enjoy a heated outdoor pool year round. Come take a dip next time you visit!

Many positive features contributed to a very pleasant stay: a beautiful yet convenient location; a spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable room; a full-scale restaurant with great breakfasts and dinners without sticker shock; free wifi as well as access to computer equipment in a business center and in the lobby, plentiful free parking; and, not least, cheerful personnel anxious to go the last mile with information and service. This is a traditional building renovated in good taste, large enough to provide good collective amenities but small enough to avoid any sense of crowding or overtaxing of facilities. As others have noted, small bathrooms provide scant elbow room, and it is difficult to manage the climate control exactly; but these dysfunctional aspects are minor in the over all appreciation of this property. Returning would be a pleasure.

Thank you for the great review! We are excited to hear that you had the opportunity to take advantage of some of our great amenities such as complimentary WIFI, Free parking, and our onsite Restaurant, the Marin Steak and Spirits Co. We act upon our guest feedback! As a result we have started to modify our bathroom doors to open into the entry are of the room rather than into the bathroom. Guests that have experienced this new feature love it and have agreed that it immediately makes the bathroom feel much bigger. We welcome you back next time you visit San Rafael!

When I booked it, the booking site had some negative reviews. But I booked it anyway due it the location.

I had absolutely no complaints. The hotel is older, yes, but the rooms was spacious and clean, the bed really comfortable. The hotel restaurant was so good I ate there both evenings. The food great and the service WONDERFUL. I paid an extra $5 for breakfast buffet when I booked the room and very worth it. Great buffet, from eggs to cereal. Reception desk staff very nice and every staff person I walked by said hello.

Right next to the freeway, so excellent location. My room actually overlooked the freeway and I never heard any noise.

I would definitely stay there again.

3000 SPG points, courteous and detailed service, and cheap in-room dining! Garlic fries were delicious and the breakfast the next day was also a good value. Bed was nice. Bathrooms were a little small but that was okay. Only thing I'd ding them for was their pool. They said it was heated to 85 so we were looking forward to taking a swim, but when we went, the pool was definitely NOT that temp . Led to an over crowded hot tub and us returning to our room.

Thank you for the great review! We are the best deal in Marin with great food, exceptional service, and our Four Points For Comfort Beds. We apologize about the pool. We do always have it heated to 85 degrees, but unfortunately the pool heater was down for the one day. We invited to you come back during the summer to enjoy the pool and come to our Party on the Patio- where we have our pool bar and music in the afternoon.
