We visited the Bagel Street Cafe in the San Rafael Northgate shopping area multiple times while staying across the street at the Sheraton Four Points, a real find considering the mediocre and expensive breakfast offered by the restaurant in the Sheraton, which we tried exactly once. The Bagel Street Cafe is a short walk from the Sheraton and is open before 7am every day and closes mid afternoon, attracting a steady flow of patrons for breakfast and then for lunch. The format is order at a counter, select and pick up your beverages, then proceed to a cashier to pay. Service is fast and very efficient, perfect for grab and go. There also are a number of tables for eat in, but ambiance is nil.
Our experience was with breakfast, where a large and tempting selection of bagels is laid out each morning, with a large variety of preparation options sure to suit almost any palate. Service is fast and friendly. The bagels are excellent. I rapidly became addicted to the simple egg-wich, going with whatever bagel suited my fancy that particular day, and depending on what was still available (there are about 20 options, but many are sold out by 9am). A large cooler offers multiple beverage options along with a coffee/tea bar, also with multiple choices.
For lunch the selection shifts to sub rolls and the emphasis to sandwiches, but since we didn't have lunch there I can't say how good the choices, but judging from breakfast I'm sure it is also good.
