From the food to the cocktails to the service, this was a wonderful dining experience. Very attentive wait staff, well prepared and presented dishes and all were very tasty.

“Good attentive restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

A very pleasant restaurant. Had a business dinner with 8 in their handsome private dining room/wine cellar on the main floor. Service was attentive and serious. The owner knew his CA wines (good choice, few from Europe or elsewhere though). Food was mixed. Some exquisite (calamari) some OK. Portions were very small. I think they counted each gnocchi. My main course salmon was overcooked (asked for it rare) but was fresh. A pleasant but expensive evening.

“Better than expected!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2014

Met up with family in San Mateo. Didn't expect the preparation, ingredients and creativity to be so high in San Mateo (being an SF food snob). Great wine list too!

“The best rack of Lamb I have ever had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

This restaurant really surprised us. On a guys night out, we were looking for a good steak house and decided to give Central Park Bistro a try. It is located on 4th ave in downtown San Mateo and has a small unassuming street presence - like a bistro in Paris. Once inside, I was very impressed! The menu makes deciding what to order very difficult. The description of the entrees made me want to have two meals! We came for a Rib Eye but all ended up order the Lamb. Best I have ever had and I have had a lot of Lamb! The service was absolutely awesome. Even thought the place was packed, our waiter was one of the most attentive servers ever. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the sautéed spinach (they even added some crispy bacon to it for me). The portions are anything by French - by the end of the meal we were all stuffed. Then we looked at the dessert menu and somehow made a little room. The price is right on for the food, service and the fantastic wine list. We have since returned twice and have made it our of our regular placed to go.

Not a lot of good dining choices in area that werent asian or fast food . Not cheap so dont be shocked but for 20.00 a plate it is do-able in the area for sure .
