We choose this motel for convenience. And we were very happy for our selection.
Spacious office, very good decor, person checked with smile and eye contact. Informed about WiFi passwords, breakfast (all FREE) besides local info. needed.
Room was spotlessly clean, laundry washed sheets, pillow cases. Good pressure of water, instant hot water for shower. Good pillow/bed quality.
More than a basic continental breakfast.
No regret at all JUST enjoyed..

This is the second time we've stayed at the Stone Villa. Each time off-season (Jan/Feb), each time we got an amazing deal. The Stone Villa is an older property, and you can definitely tell; one of the bedside lamps in our room was damaged, and some of the carpet was coming off the baseboard section of the wall. In other words, it's not the Hilton. But that's just about our only criticism, and otherwise, we're just delighted. The rooms are spacious, with walk-in closets almost as big as the bathroom, where you can close the door and turn on the light (if, for instance, you don't want to disturb your roommate). The mattresses are excellent quality, and the furniture is solid, and not cheap, and the chairs are upholstered and comfortable. The location can't be beat - a short walk to Heidi's Pies, a short walk to old downtown San Mateo, with great restaurants, a slightly longer walk to a large grocery store, and a short drive to the new town center, which is a great place to dine and shop. Right off Rt. 92, which gets you to 101 or 280 in just a minute or so, right in the middle of the Peninsula. The staff is pleasant and responsive, the location seems quite safe, and we couldn't be more pleased. If you're looking for luxury, look elsewhere; but if you're looking for a comfy, charming, clean, centrally located bargain, you can't do any better than the Stone Villa.

Stayed here for business and I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and smelled nice, there was an AC/heater that worked well and the showers were nice. There were holes in the bed linens and the bed was not as plush as I would have liked, but it was not uncomfortable. The free breakfast was always gone by 8:30 am but it looked to be a nice quick meal. The TV was a nice, large flat screen and the microwave and fridge worked perfectly. Overall, this was an enjoyable stay and a great value. There is lots of shopping nearby. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be equal.
