The Fish Market in San Mateo remains one of my favorites from having lived in San Mateo in the '90s. When I travel to the San Francisco Bay area I always make a stop at this great seafood market and restaurant. The "chessy garlic sourdough" is the item to begin your dining experience. From there the choices are limited only by what fresh seafood has been sourced for the day. I favor the grilled Halibut when available, but all seafood items are prepared to not only pleae the eye but also the tastebuds. As for the ducks, there always seems to be a flock or two of them in the water adjacent to the restaurant's outdoor deck. On a typical northern Califronia day, ask to sit outside on the deck and enjoy the beautiful blue sky and wonderfully fresh breeze that blows off the water.
