Best escargot I've had in years; chicken, duck, vegetable dishes very tastily served; spinach soup and steak a bit bland but not offensive and nice textures. Bread/butter as close to French fare as we get in CA. Service friendly, attentive, understanding of varied tastes. Reasonable corkage fee.

Julienne is both wonderful and reliable. Situated in an arcaded building on a reasonably quiet street, breakfasts and lunches are served by a highly trained staff in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is always good and is sufficiently varied to suit any taste. Their signature bread is so good that people take home any extra slices that aren't eaten at lunch. There are two periods of service: breakfast and lunch with a short break between. There is also a gourmet shop with baked goods, frozen entrees, cheeses, wines, you name it! No reservations are accepted and a wait of at least 30 minutes is necessary on the weekends - but everyone seems to find it worthwhile. All of the food is prepared there - right down to the mayonnaise. So enjoy!

Julienne's is a great spot. It is bustling and for a reason. The food and service is fantastic. I had the Garden greens salad with pears and gorgonzola, as well as a bread pudding with blackberries. Both were amazing. Further, I took some lemon meringue tarts from the Gourmet Market home with me. Those were equally amazing and I plan to go back for some more soon. While Julienne's often has a long wait, I say it's worth it. You can always walk around San Marino, which is very pleasant on a sunny day.

I had my second experience at this little French bistro yesterday. The food is wonderful with an incredible blending of flavors. It is a popular venue and does not accept reservations, so plan accordingly. The bakery/take out area and gift shop provide plenty of opportunities to browse and/or make one of a kind purchases. If you do not live in the area, it is worth the trip for a special breakfast or lunch. It is now on my list of 'go to restaurants' for out of the ordinary dining.

Julienne is a great place for brunch. Do come here early in the morning to avoid a long wait on the weekend. Great food.
