Been here several times for brunch. I have never been disappointed. Good food, well prepared and service is good. While waiting you can watch people at the driving range hit poor shot all over the place.

This has always been one of my favorite breakfast and lunch locations in San Marcos, California. It is relatively less noisy than other local restaurants and the views of the golf course are terrific. It is a good place to take prospective clients. I like the breakfast menu but the lunch offerings left a lot to be desired.

A friend and I had Sunday brunch today. It was my first time there and my friend hadn't been there in years. It's a gloomy day but the temperature comfortable so we ate outside - at the edge of the putting green. Lovely. The hostess seated us right away, gave us menus and walked away. After several minutes nobody acknowledged our being there - it was like we were invisible. We finally flagged down a server who said it was not her station but she'd be glad to help us. We asked who's station it was - she wasn't sure We ordered our Bloody Mary's (neither of us wanted champagne included in the price of brunch) and she came back right away with our water and set up. Her name was Taylor and she apologized for not being served sooner and explained that it was supposed to be the bartender's station. Soon the bartender (Brian) came with our drinks and also apologized. He was very nice and personable and made a good Bloody Mary. He asked if we wanted to order but we said not for a few minutes. We never saw Brian again and Taylor remained our server. She was great - friendly and efficient.

We enjoyed our drinks and Taylor checked on us a couple of times until we ordered. We both ordered eggs benedict with hash browns. In a reasonable time, another server came out with our meals. She tried to give it to 3 other people until we flagged her our way. We assumed she had just come on duty and was told to serve these without knowing who to serve. She stayed and did her job without confusion.

We had to ask for Salt and Pepper due to the confusion of the table not being set up. Our meals could not have been better. The eggs were still hot and done to perfection. The sauce had just enough lemon without overpowering. Hash browns were crispy and served with a side cup of ketchup. We both agreed the meal was outstanding and worth all the confusion at the start. Our compliments to the chef. Prices were very reasonable and ample servings.

I don't know anything about running a restaurant, but it seems as though management needs to do some fine tuning in managing this talented wait staff. The service needs to equal the food. We noticed as we watched the hostess seating people, that they were no sooner seated and she came back with water, a set up and champagne and a nice friendly attitude. Lesson learned! What started out to be a very disappointing experience, became a very enjoyable meal. We will definitely return. We would like to try a regular lunch menu.

Traveling with two young Grandsons would leave any Grandparent somewhat hesitant to go into a established restaurant. From the start we had the boys feed while we shared a drink and than our meals came which pleased our culinary palate!!

Had an awesome lunch at Gordon's while being entertained by the golf games going on right outside the restaurant!
