“Great homemade, fresh food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012 via mobile

The empanadas and sweet potato fries are excellent. We ordered the chicken, beef and blue cheese fillings and they were outstanding. Make sure to open them slowly to prevent burning your mouth.

“Gotta Try'Em!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

Want something new and tasty? This is the place to go.

Food is: Full of flavor and healthy.
A little more $ than we wanted to spend on dinner, but SO worth it.

***Left overs then next evening were great too!

Gotta try the olive oil and herbs blend; Yummers on the Lemon Chicken!

“Deliciously authentic and flavorful Argentine food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Located off Twin Oaks Valley Rd, this small but beautifully decorated restaurant offers 100% natural beef, a wonderful beef salad, well seasoned Argentinian fries with garlic and parsley, so many treats, hard to list them all. The empanadas are delicious, each one a delicate little pocket of flavor, you can choose baked or fried. The corn empanada is creamy and feels like home. The milanesa and salad make a complete dinner, The New York steak was tender, the sweet potato fries crispy, the Quilmes (Argentina's own beer) refreshing and the owner and wait staff friendly and quick.
Surrounded by other restaurants such as Old Spaghetti Factory, a sushi place and others, Gauchito stands out for the authenticity, good service and unusual food. The flan with dulce de leche could be a meal on its' own, life's uncertain, eat dessert first!!

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2012

I had never eaten Argentine food before so was interested in trying it. The staff were very helpful in describing the items on the menu Both the empanadas and milanesa were excellent. I had a baked chicken and a spinach empanada with a very fresh green salad (salad is not on the printed menu) one day and a milanesa (meat pounded thin, breaded and lightly fried) the next time and would recommend both items.

“Fantastic Argentinean Food at Great Prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2011

WOW! After a long day in SD we stopped at Gauchito Grill on our way to our hotel based on reviews from another site. It was 8:30 on a Friday and they were getting ready to close. We were warmly greeted and made to feel right at home. It is a small location in a 'strip mall' but once inside it doesn't feel that way.

We started with empanadas - spinach, beef, cheese & onion. All fantastic. We opted for baked instead of fried, and went back for more. We then split a milenesa sandwich and sweet potato fries - both fantastic. Our total bill for 6 empanadas, sandwich, sweet potato fries, 3 drinks was around $30.

If I could suggest anything, it would be to add a soda fountain. Everything is in cans and no diet soda. Not a huge deal, but would be a nice add.

Unfortunately we live 90 minutes away from San Marcos otherwise this would be my new favorite restaurant.
