We go to Del Monte Cafe' at least once a month, usually on Sunday, because on Sunday one of their specials is the Vegetarian benedict which is my favorite.
The place itself looks like a little cottage, originally it was a grocery store I believe. Inside it looks like an old, 60s style diner. They also have a patio outside, but we prefer to sit inside, as we find that outside the tables are really too close to each other and it's kind of a pain to get up, move your chair etc...
The waitresses are really nice, service is quick, the menu fairly varied and homestyle. Compared to the other breakfast places in the area, we find that the prices are lower. For example: 2 eggs benedict served at Custom's House in Avila Beach are $ 15.00, at Del Monte either the regular benedicts or the vegetarian benedicts are $ 10.50 (price at May 2012). So, as you can see, it's quite cheaper.
I have also tried the tuna melt and tuna salad sandwich with fries on wheat bread and they were both good too.
They also serve pancakes, french toasts, regular omelettes or scrambles, quiches...
All in all, a reasonably priced place, a favorite amongst the locals (and Cal Poly Students).
