“Madonna Inn - once is enough!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

We have taken a car club group to Madonna Inn almost every year for the past 12 years. Sometimes we have had groups of 40, sometimes much smaller. Occasionally we received some perks as a group, but this year it was no perk, just noise and problems. A "party" lasted until 3 am and as partiers disbursed to their rooms, their noise level and slamming doors disrupted the sleep of our entire group spread throughout the property in 10 different rooms. One couple also had their night ruined by a barking dog! Since this is NOT a pets allowed facility, one would have expected a quick response. However, hotel staff chose the "polite" way as the dog continued to cry and whine for hours alone in the room. When the owners were finally located, they were asked to leave, but only after our friends endured several hours of this noise. Our friends were asked if THEY wanted to move! after all that, no compensation was offered to offset their misery, or any of ours for the partier noise. The Inn is old, not built for soundproofing, and outdated. The rooms are unique, and it is an experience to see, but once is enough!

We appreciate your review and the business that the car club groups brings to the inn. It can be disappointing when other guest's do not abide by hotel policies and it's unfortunate that this negatively impacted your impression of us. Hopefully we will continue to see the group stop by with us in the future for a more peaceful stay.

You should stay here - for one night. This place looks like it was decorated by Betsy Johnson and Barbie after they took shrooms. It is gawdy CRAZY. But, it's also totally unique. We stayed in room 184 "Just Heaven" which is huge and...well, check out the rooms online (they have a picture of every one). The rooms are very clean. The negatives: The front desk will NOT tell you what rooms are open. You must book and then they tell you what you get. You can make requests but, I didnt get anything in my top 3. Also, they charge you an extra $20 for a "resort fee" which is not fair. Come on, this is NOT a resort. Also, the linens are quite old...like something your grandma has. The "resort" is fun but, it's looking a bit tired and needs freshing up. Also, BEWARE that this hotel is right off the freeway. Our room was the farthest back from the freeway and we could hear trucks zooming by all night long.

Room Tip: GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! The front desk won't tell you what is available :-(!

Thank you for your review. When booking online you do book into a category so unfortunately you room choices had previously been reserved. We would love to have you stay again in the future and we are always happy to make any adjustments to your room choice as long as it's available. We definitely want our guests to enjoy the room they are in!

We took one of the less garish bedrooms - Solvang. Nothing to report.
But the interior decor of the restaurant in the main building is really over the top.
There are many suggestions that given more time and good craftsmen the builder could have been the american Gaudi.
The Restaurant claimed to serve the best steaks in the USA. This I am in no position to confirm, but the steak I had was tender and perfectly done.

I stayed here for a wedding in October 2012. I had always wanted to stay here, so I was pretty excited about the prospect. In the end, it was sort of a let down. I got to view several rooms since we were there with a big party -- they were a little sad, actually, and each one smelled musty. The service at the hotel bar was not good - the bartenders were not welcoming to our group at all - even borderline rude to the bride and groom. I did like the pool, though -- it was more enteratining that I expected to be hanging out in a bathing suit at this faux island paradise above I-5. In the end, I think I would have preferred for this place to stay in my imagination because the reality didn't live up.

My wife, two adult daughters and I stayed at the Madonna Inn for a weekend to attend a wedding. The décor in both rooms was PINK but each room was decorated with unique furniture and wall paper. Each room had a very large living room area with a large couch and bay windows with a nice view of the valley. The bathrooms were very modern, clean and had double sinks. The beds were very comfortable. On our first night, we had a roommate. Our door was open, so we could move back and forth between our two rooms, and a gray cat with a flea collar came into our room and proceeded to make itself at home. It didn’t want to leave at bed time, so we let it sleep on the couch. It seemed to think it owned the place. The next night, it spent the night with one of the other couples we were traveling with. Never had a roomate like this.

There is a nice pool and a spa. The Copper Café is an excellent choice for breakfast. Overall it’s a very nice motel. But it is still a motel with cars parked outside the rooms and that creates the normal motel noises in the middle of the night. It is the most expensive Motel I have ever stayed at. Our rate, with a $15 resort fee and taxes was just over $300 per night per room. It was a nice unique experience, very comfortable but expensive. I’d only stay here for special occasions.

We stayed here on our honeymoon..in a beautiful quirky pink tower room overlooking a field of baby horses. Carin was the name of the room It had balconies flowered wallpaper and a gold angel over the bed.

We took part in a couples massage and had dinner in the restaurants. They raise their own beef..so very tender ..and the cake..is to die for!

Will come back here many times.

Room Tip: some rooms have fireplaces or rock wall showers this is a great place for family trips too with room...

Stayed here this weekend in the Holland and Pick and Shovel Suite. Both rooms were really fun, but what I have to compliment the hotel on is how immaculate the rooms were. Yes they have kitschy and wild (if outdated) decor, but nothing about this place feels dingy. The rooms were sparkling clean, and that is something you can't say about all hotels. Breakfast in the restaurant was great, and the service was top notch. Overall a really great stay!
