This hotel is a funky little number to say the least! We stayed here for one night on route to San Jose from LA and it was everything we expected it to be...think Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and you'll get an idea of the restaurant area!

This is something that looks like an exploding 60's leftover from Jane Mansfield cocktail party! It is just fantastic and not the type of place you are likely to come across unless you stay here or was ever at a Jayne Mansfield cocktail party in the 60's.

The waitress was nice enough but the food was a bit [--] though wouldn't have changed eating there as it was all part of the experience.

If your considering this hotel then you are probably aware that each room is designed different. We were in one of the standard rooms really but it was still ostentatious enough!

It has a brilliant out door pool and jacuzzi that we jumped in at about 6am the following morning and had it to ourselves.

Heated to around 85 degrees it was a way to start the morning I could get used too.

Apparently Lady Madonna is still kicking and with her family, takes an active role in the running of the place.

A real relic of yesteryear and has clearly carved out a 'gimmicky' kind of space within the hotel industry of San Luis Obispo. There is certainly nothing in the area that competes with this place for character! Stay here if only for one night.

You pay for what you get...That being said this place offers a unique twist to your stay...We stood in the buffalo room and we love the theme...We ate at the Gold Rush Restaurant and the food was amazing including the fun atmosphere that was provided...We will definitely be coming back.

The only way to somewhat equal or beat the Madonna Inn's features is if you could find European castles with brick-walled rooms! There's absolutely nothing like the Madonna Inn, I believe world-wide!!

First, travelers always stop to absorb the PINK gaudy dining room, and everyone likes the waterfall in the men's restroom (not as amazing con temporarily, but it was WAY ahead it's time for decades)..

The rooms!.. If you can afford it, go for one of the rooms with at least one rock wall.Huge boulders, actually! Each room is themed, and part of the fun is choosing which theme fits you! You also can choose to have a rock shower, waterfall shower and/or a fireplace in your room!

Some rooms are romantic; others appropriate for grandma or whoever.

All rooms have great amenities - complimentary newspaper, coffee, robes.. The entire place is WiFi.. There's a full spa and a fitness center and pool.. I've GOTTA perform a Wedding there some day!!

I swear, the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA is a place you and your Guests absolutely, guaranteed will never forget!! Be prepared to take pictures!!

Room Tip: Go to their "Room Features Grid" to choose the amenities you want/room price!!

We absolutely loved the Madonna Inn. Stay in the Bridal Suite which was massive and enjoyed our rock room and waterfall shower--it seriously is a waterfall. Not sure if the live frog in the fountain was really supposed to be there and went AWOL that night. The pool area was fantastic as well with views of the mountains from the jacuzzi. Only downside is that you're right next to the highway but you can't hear it.

Wish we could have tried out more rooms. Only stay here if you're fun and love tacky and cheesy as it will seem overpriced and definitely research the rooms on the website as some are definitely better than others. You stay at the Madonna Inn for the experience...so don't take it so seriously.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rock rooms or check out rooms online to have a few on hand when you reserve

The Madonna Inn is an institution. But so is Folsom Prison. In both temporary residences, you more or less know what you're getting on the way in. If your idea of a good time is to sleep in a tackily decorated theme room, eat overpriced (and often barely) edible food, and to pay too much for the whole experience, this is the definitely the place for you.

Room Tip: If you book through a travel aggregrator like Expedia, you will not be able to guarantee the room of...

First off, do not book thru a travel website as they limit the room inventory - we got the 'Place Mat' room. Nothing unique at all. The restuarant food is extremely overpriced. $5.25 for a plate of French Fries and $14 for a chicken sandwich. Call me a fool. I witnessed 2 other tables sending food back and arguing with the hostess.

Save your money and keep driving down route 101. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area.

Our first time there with kids. Fun idea and great concept but the rooms were just plain dirty. My kids were in the fab fifties room..the pink carpet was stained black everywhere and seemed like it hasn't been washed for years. The parents stayed in the vintage room which was clearly "vintage". The sheets were dirty and I even found hairs in them. We found a giant spider web in the corner...Don't go near the comforter!! I will never be coming back again and I do not even recommend it to my worst enemy. Didn't sleep a wink because I was worried about something crawling on me.
