Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very welcoming. The room was "oldy worldy" England, spacious, clean - bathroom bigger than ours at home!

A straight walk into SLO, where we enjoyed the evening at the Farmers' Market and a fabulous tri-tip steak at McLintock's.

Great cooked breakfast and also lots of choice for continental style - pastries, cake ......

Would stay again.

This is one of the best places that SLO has to offer. The accommodations that the lodge provides couldn't be any more distant from the neighboring hotels. One can literally forget that their hotel is located on Monterey Street. The rooms were tremendously clean. The odor of the room wasn't masked with simply Febreeze and the attention to cleanliness on all parts of furniture was provided (there was zero dust!).

This is the second time that I have stayed with this hotel, and despite a change of owner ship the British lady who manages the front has remained in charge of operations and the cleaning crew is the same as well! The retention of these key employees has clearly kept the maintence up.

The breakfast was quaint, and very comforting. It isn't what you'll get at an all inclusive hotel but the nice lady does a fantastic job of making sure your experience is peaceful.

I will definitely be returning on my trips to SLO. I would highly recommend that if you're looking for a room that can challenge you to call it "home" for a couple nights, San Luis Creek Lodge is what you need!

SLO has a hard time with hotels, not sure why someone has not come in and truly made a spectacular place that discerning clients would be all over.

This place; clean, big bathroom, great location (not downtown in case you thought it was) very close to the college. Beds need updating, very soft.

When we booked this I did not expect to find it to be as comfortable as it was.
Rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast was great and location was good.
Wi-fi was good. Staff was friendly. Nice cozy spot, would definitely recommend it.

The San Luis Creek Lodge is a nice place, don't get me wrong. We stayed there for 6 nights, and it was a good value. But it missed the boat in several categories:
First, while it may be on the creek, this is not really in sight -- it runs behind the last of three buildings and really is not part of the atmosphere of the place.
Second, it is on a busy street, jammed between a Super 8 and a Travel Lodge, right across the street from the Holiday Inn Express. There are three buildings on the property, as it goes down hill toward the not-visible creek. If you averse to stairs, you'd better ask about a room that does not require going up and down. Parking is tight if they have a full house
Third, the WiFi was free but troublesome for me, and I never have problems with it elsewhere. For some reason, my wife didn't have problems. Most of the time I could not get it to work on my PC.
Fourth, breakfast is pretty much the same every day, and while it is edible, it is not fancy or diverse, especially if you need to be gluten-free.One morning they had run out of sausgae by 9 AM.
So the upshot is that it is probaly a good value, don't get your hopes up for a memorable stay.

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post this review on Tripadvisor. I am sorry you felt somewhat disappointed in your visit. I have tried to consider how we may have made your stay more enjoyable. Had I been aware that the stairs were perhaps inconvenient for you, I would have looked at possible alternative on the ground level. We have been extremely busy this month and I know that occasionally, despite our best efforts, we do run out of some items in our breakfast room. We always have extra supplies to add and we are very happy to do that. I will put up a small notice asking guests to let us know if we have run out of something they need. Hopefully this will help in future. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Also I recently provided two guests with gluten free products and will always try to help with special dietary requirements.

Thanks again for the review and for choosing to stay with us. Have a wonderful holiday season.

We found San Luis Creek Lodge using the Yelp app on the phone as we drove into town. Luckily they had one room left and the rate was good. The property has three separate buildings with guest rooms. We were in the Plantation building, located the furthest from Monterey Street, with parking in front of our building. The room was beautifully decorated, had a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, a large bathroom with double sinks and was very clean. We like to read in bed so appreciated reading lights on both sides. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. In the lobby they had bottles of water, cookies, microwave popcorn and movies available to guests. Breakfast was included with the room and they had a wide arrange of hot and cold food, including Starbucks coffee. When we walked in we were asked if we wanted scrambled eggs or waffles as they would gladly make them for us. For those short on time, they offered breakfast to go. The hotel is located on a major street with easy access to numerous restaurants and stores. The office is on the street but the buildings with guest rooms are located further back on the property so you do not get street noise. The staff was helpful and courteous. Our only regret was that we were traveling through and could only spend one night here.
