Unique names on dishes, big portions, great locality. Good combination with hotel as restaurant is within walking distance.

Went there for a late night piece of pie, and then again for breakfast in the morning. Excellent comfort food, excellent service. Everything is made from scratch, and it shows. Apple pie was superb, eggs benedict were great, hollandaise sauce was fresh. Portions are very large, but I disagree with comments by other reviewers about being too expensive. If you want commercial sauces and over-processed and artificial food, go to another diner. If you want fresh made wholesome food, the prices charged at Margie's are within reason.

We happened on Margie's Diner (saw a large sign) while driving through San Luis Obispo en route. So lucky we did. All the food here is unprocessed, not from mixes or cans, and made on site. The portions are beyond generous, the food is freshly made, the fruit bowls (platters!) are outstanding and the best selection of fruits I've seen at a restaurant, and the menu choice for breakfast is extensive. The place is bright and roomy although the neighborhood is nothing to write home about - auto dealerships and run down hotels. Would go back.

The food portions are huge! Typical diner fare food. I had the burger for breakfast and the quality of meat was really good. My companion had the chilli omelet. Overall, a great place to stop if you need to fill up. No frills, just a diner adjacent to the 101 highway.

Margie's Diner has a long established reputation for serving up good tasting home cooked food and the portions are ample. My husband and I often order one meal and split the meal between us as they always serve hearty amounts of food. They are even willing to split the milk shakes, which keeps us at a reasonable amount of calories. If you aren't into sharing, you can always take the left-overs home for a later snack. It's a family restaurant and they have a buffet room that you can reserve for larger groups. The staff are friendly and the service is good. Food fair is American and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
