“Best Campground in SLO County”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

We arrived at El Chorro on a Sunday with our fingers crossed we would get a spot for camping (in our fifth wheel). We were surprised it was almost empty, but then, to a Calidfornian...this is winter! Gorgeous campground, wonderful camp hosts and the price was so reasonable for full hook-ups (30 amp). Spaces actually filled up during the afternoon but the park remains remarkably quiet, despite being very close to Hwy. 1. The rest of the park is equally great. Adjacent golf course, hiking paths, botonical gardens, off-leash dog run, etc...We started out thinking we would stay 3 days and ended up staying 12! Loved the location You can take so many day trips in any direction. Particulary loved Morro Bay. SLO is a wonderful area as well and has all the stores you could ever ask for. Best little coastal town for local art is Cambria.

“Great day getaway - has dog park too/”
Reviewed June 6, 2011

It's a fun little walkabout. Has small trails and long trails. You could spend a few hours out here hiking around. There is also a botanical garden and nature center, a golf course and a dog park. THey supposedly charge admission but I've never had to pay in the 4 years I've been visiting. They say you can find arrowheads out in the woods and the hills. It's right next to a military firing range, so don't be alarmed if you hear a few explosions.
