Owner description: Named because it resembles a bishop's hat, the highest peak of the Morros range is heavily used by hikers and bicyclists. The climb to the top will take anywhere from one to two hours depending on your fitness level.

Quite a work out once you get to the West-face. In warm weather go early or late, you re sure to work up a sweat. If it is too much for you, try Madonna Mountain, it is a much easier climb with goo-too better view.

Not particularly strenuous, it can be done in 90 minutes by the fast and fit. However, if you walk and stop then plan on 2+ hours. Only the bottom 1/3 is in shade, so I suggest you go early before it gets hot. Great views. Rewarding. We parked on Highland.

Make sure you wear good walking shoes or cross trainers as the trail is steep, rocky and dusty in parts. On hot days take water. Note where you parked your car because there are a number of entry/exit points and, if you exit at a different one from where you entered, you will need to find where you parked your car. We had to ask directions from a local resident to find our way back to the car. A mountain lion had been sighted in the area recently and a sign warned trail walkers to keep an eye on their kids and pets.

It's a little challenging hike , not too steep. The view from the top is unbelievable ! Bring enough water , especially on warmer days ! It will take you about an hour and 30 min roundtrip.

If you hike to the top of Bishop's Peak in San Luis Obispo, you will be treated to a great view of the area. I remember going up there some years ago and being amazed that the pilot of a small plane flying by was at eye level with us hikers! It's a vigorous climb, so be sure to allow plenty of time, wear sturdy shoes, and bring lots of water!
