“Take The Family & Enjoy”

The food is good and at most of the vendors the price is reasonable. There are two or three blocks of booths featuring not only prepared foods but also farm fresh produce. We purchased some bundles of young asparagus thinking it would be really good having been recently harvested but when cooked, it was tough and somewhat stringy.
There was an act at the south end of the venue with a wannabe comedian whose best 'trick' was to balance at the top of a two-legged ladder and juggle a sword and a flaming baton. A lot of fun for kids of all ages.
Go early as it gets VERY busy and crowded near sunset. On Thursdays only from what I'm told.

“BBQ and bounce houses”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

There is good food here, and good times. It's really a street fair, and an event, more than a place to scoop up fresh produce. But there is great bbq and it's a good way to stroll the downtown area. Go! Enjoy!

“Fantastic Food, Fun, and Fruit!”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

The well known street market in San Luis Obispo includes several options for artisan and ethnic foods, loads of fresh fruit, and the fun of hearing the vendors, visiting with people who actually produce the products you are buying, and getting to wander through many of the fine stores along the road. You can find excellent barbecue meats, wonderful freshly roasted corn on the cob, home made tamales, strawberry shortcake... There are usually growers who sell oranges and strawberries, other interesting fruits and veggies. I like the atmosphere and feeling that you are among friends, even if you are just passing through one time.

“A weekly festival of food and music”
Reviewed April 5, 2014

Every Thursday, the main street is closed off and local producers, vendors and performers showcase their talents - craft, culinary and artistic. A great way to experience the local culture.

“Wow~A farmers market spun into a fair. Almost.”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

What a great Thursday evening. For in Towners or out of Towners...

*The produce is super fresh and being it doesn't open til 6:pm - nothing gets sun baked before you buy it.
It takes up 4 or 5 block lengths -
The whole street is shut down to cars.
~
*The shops on this piece of roadway are also open to add to the evening experience.
Then there is the "Fair-like" qualities at play.
*Different live music on each block,
*Unique boutique or special homemade product vendors.
*Loads of street vendors selling all sorts of edibles.
(lots of BBQ oriented purveyors)
We at at McLintocks - Which had the longest line at about 20+ minutes of line waiting ...
And boy did my ribs taste great!
(They have a restaurant on this street and a booth / street vendor set up too..)

If you are in SLO on Thursday evening....
You owe it to yourself to experience this Farmers Market and have dinner too...
