“Nice stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

Room was a little small, Tv remote is poorly made and cheap, almost couldnt turn the channels. plus we didnt like how thin the walls are. I heard the room above us clearly, every step i can hear. Its kinda hard to relax when everyone sounds like they are stomping around. Plus people arent very quiet after the quiet hours but then again maybe that's just the thin walls. I think the main thing you are paying for is the surroundings. that's it. kinda disappointing to pay this much and being let down. the bed is uncomforable and noisey... What do they do with all the money from these overpriced rooms? they should put it towards nice beds and appliances. Only Plus was the Hot tub on the deck,

Overall good, I go there because of sulphur mineral springs. The location is really nice. Hiking and beach nearby, but the service is poor. People at front desk are not that friendly. The rooms are not that clean and the carpet smells. The beds are not that comfortable. The place can be cleaner. Overall, the price is good.

We have been coming to Sycamore Mineral Springs for over 10 years, and most of the time our stays are great. But our recent stay presented us with a list of things we didn’t like:

1) Phone calls from housekeeping bugging us about if they can clean the room (we left our do not disturb sign on the door for a reason).
2) Our “mineral spring” hot tub had no mineral spring water in it; trust me the odor is unmistakable, maybe they ran out? But this has never happened before, and if they are selling a product and run out they should be honest about it. Our water even had chlorine smell to it, no sulfur this time.
3) The pool was closed for cleaning on Monday – so the very unapologetic staff said we could just use another hotels pool down the road. OK we said, but we arrived at the other hotels pool to find it wasn’t heated, had trash in it, does not let children use very small inflatables, and honestly the pool just doesn’t compare with Sycamores which is what we were paying for!
4) We called to get a late checkout; we do this all the time and have never had an issue. But it was like pulling teeth! Almost every hotel will give you an hour without any issue, and most will give you two hours if you have a good reason (we did). After pleading with them – that we had to go to the other hotels pool and that caused us delays in our schedule and have a child that we really need to let nap from 11 to 12 they said OK. Then the phone rings during naptime – “can we clean your room now”. You are kidding right?
5) Left my 100+ electric toothbrush in bathroom – was this turned in, you guessed it, nope. This after leaving 10+ a day in tips for the staff, which really makes me mad.

I write this honest review because I really like Sycamore, and hope someone there reads it, and thinks about some of the policies, lack of honestly in the staff, lack of communication between the staff and lack of customer service. This place use to be near perfect for what it is, but it’s slipping.

Room Tip: Be sure to rent a hot tub in the hills at night, romantic for sure.

My accomadations were pleasent i was there with my Significant other the hot tube on balcony was clean and as room the maid service was prompt came back to a nice clean room with fresh towels after a day in pismo i requested a editable arrangements along with roses both were perfectl . Beautiful and i found staff to be curtious and kind the location was good the property was a rather nice well maintained ornamental setting. The only neglect was a chair in room that could use a new upholstery. Uplift other than that i will return in the near future thank you sycamore hot springs sincerely. Steve walton

we stayed in Harmony building. Hot Tub appears to have been replaced(great!). Dinner was perfect. we ordered 5 course prefix menu and wine pairing. all fantastic. My twins ordered off of the children's menu and had chicken and fish. both were perfect and my children felt like they were growing up by having a quality dinner arrive with adult style plating.
I asked to speak with the chef and conveyed my gratitude at the quality dinner. My wife and I have been coming to the Sycamore hot springs for almost 20 years. service has gone up and down over the years but it is currently in top form. A definite recommend!!

Our first time here, but not the last....Hot tub was great, our room had a view of the oaks and woods, saw wild turkeys and peacocks. Great to get away from the SLO crowds and traffic...And the restaurant: fabulous! Delicious food and presentation....Highly recommended...

Fantastic resort, very clean and elegant. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with the romance package and added spa treatments.
The Spa techs, I can only praise in the highest regard!
Dining in the Gardens of Avila was an interesting experience for the ordinary meat and potato person, but a must experience!
We will return and we will be sharing our experience of the resort with friends and family.
