When we arrived at the hotel we were amazed by how nice it was!
After checking in we went to our spa suite called 'Journey' it was amazing! The main bed was amazing and the sofa bed was comfy also.
The hot tub worked fine although it did drain the water so we had to keep re-filling it! The only downsides were probably the little mouse running around next to our hot tub (nothing major) and the fact that the shower is basically pointed at the shower door so whenever you open the shower door, water goes everywhere!

We also ate in the on-site restaurant. This was OK, the burger and chips wasn't very nice but the chicken dish and also the pasta with cheese sauce was alright.
Wish we were there for more than 1 night!

This was our second stay at Sycamore. No matter what the complaints may be, you cannot beat the hot mineral tubs and luxurious beds! We stayed at a very busy time and got their last room available. We stayed in the Mythical Suites building in the Mystical room. It was a suite with living room, and bedroom. The room itself was not very well maintained, with chipped up furniture and a gas fire place that barely had a flame. But the large private mineral tub makes up for it all. The water makes your skin feel like silk, your hair sooo soft, and your bones and muscles sooo relaxed. Couple that with our incredible four poster bed and it is absolute bliss! The soft sheets, down comforters, feather pillows, and heavenly mattress were the best I have ever slept on. We did not stay long enough to get to enjoy the pool, or free yoga classes, but I think that adds a lot of value to the price. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and romantic. Great walking trails and stream. A cute little farm and shop just a few minutes drive down the road. The only negatives this trip were that the units on the hill behind our room could clearly see onto our patio and tub, and it was pricey at $350.00 for one night. Still we felt extremely blessed to have enjoyed such a luxurious stay.

Room Tip: The Harmony building has no one behind you on the hill. End units upstairs are the best.

We stayed in the King Suites aka West Meadows Suites. It was like a one bedroom apartment minus the kitchen. It had a separate bedroom & living room, very spacious. There was a completely private patio with a hot tub with access from a sliding door in your bedroom or living room. There was a fireplace in the living room. We just stayed at a different hotel in Avila & were very dissapointed, it was almost double the price & very noisy.

We also had couples massages that were awesome!

The only thing about staying in the West Meadows Suites is you can't drive to your room. You park your car in the parking lot by the main hotel & a bellman picks you & your stuff up in a golf cart. Then takes you across the road to your room. You can walk but if you have luggage/icechest you need them to give you a ride. They will give you a ride any time you need one.

Since our car wasn't handy we wanted room service. The menu was limited and only available for a few hours in the morning & a few in the evening. The staff wasn't real friendly either.

We would stay here again..

For those who are expecting a luxurious bedroom/spa experience this might not be for them, but my husband and I stayed here because of the price and were pleasantly surprised by the hot spring hot tub on a private deck outside our room, the masseurs at the spa (wonderful) and the yoga classes (attended 2) were as good as any yoga class I've attended in San Francisco or London!

Also, the restaurant onsite exceeded our expectations. Instead of exploring the town for restaurants, we ended up eating lunch and dinner twice at the restaurant. The seasonal, fresh menu was a delight. However, breakfast was so-so.

Don't expect a chic swanky resort - but this is a great place to stay with some wonderful amenities. The rooms are spacious and clean - I was by myself so I stayed in one of the less expensive rooms. Most (if not all) rooms have a mineral springs fed spa tub on the private deck (know to ask for non-smelly water if the sulphur bothers you). Be prepared to walk and hike. The food in the restaurant is very good and the spa services are terrific. Nearby is Pismo Beach, Avila Beach (only a couple of restaurants there) and just up the 101 is San Luis Obispo. For the money, this is a great place to stay. There is a wonderful farmers market and petting zoo across the street if you are travelling with kids.

Room Tip: Some rooms are only accessible by stairs. Some buildings are located up hills that will not accomod...

We are locals and spend our family beach time down the road at Avila Beach. When my wife and I want a night away, we are blessed to have Sycamore amongst the top options in our own backyard.

We stayed on a Tuesday night in a queen suite. This was a spur of the moment stay, and the booking and check-in staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was tremendous, and large enough we commented that we could bring our 3 young children with us next visit. The free wi-fi was a pleasant surprise, the rooms seemed freshly updated and clean, the TVs were small--but why in the world would you want to watch TV here?

We did not visit the restaurant, but have eaten there before and it is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our private outdoor hot springs tub.

The only negative to our stay was the poor customer service in the Gift Shop. You make reservations for hot tubs, spa treatments, etc in the gift shop. There were three employees working when we walked in and we got in line and waited for a young couple to book their hot tub. Not one employee acknowledged us, nor asked if they could help. After a 10 minute wait to speak to an employee, the young lady curtly informed us that we were in the wrong line and would need to go talk to the other young lady (occupied by her iphone). When I asked why nobody had thought to greet us or ask if they could help us, she wanted to argue that "that isn't my job." Perhaps the young lady was having a bad day, as most employees are excellent at Sycamore.

Beautiful grounds, lovely large rooms, private hot tubs, fair pricing, minutes from Avila Beach and 101, how can you go wrong?

Room Tip: Our corner suite was wonderful.

This place didn't impressed me. It's just a regular place with the amenities as expected. We had to carry our luggage up one flight of stairs to get to our Queen suite. No elevator. The Prominence Suite was a bit up the hill, and we weren't able to park our 15 passenger van there because it was almost impossible to get back down when there's another guest car. There's no breakfast included.
