I graduated from Cal Poly and remembered the Apple Farm from my years in San Luis (early 90's). My family had stayed here a few times during their visits up to see me and it was nice back then but I was afraid that time may have taken its toll all these years later. I was very wrong. My husband and I visited San Luis in mid Jan with our 6 month old and found the Apple Farm to be as cozy and quaint as it had been back then. The decor was the same but the property and our room was so well maintained it definitely did not show its age. It was also probably one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in (and I am VERY picky about that). While packing up our stuff my husband looked under the bed to make sure that nothing had rolled under there and there was a sign from housekeeping that said "Yes, we clean under here too" or something like that! The one disappointment was the restaurant. We only had breakfast there one morning and it was mediocre at best. Overall, a very nice stay though.
