“Best Ice Cream in the Manor”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

You can't beat ice cream in the Manor at Clancy's. Lines out the door on those warm days and friendly service from a small family owned establishment.

“It's about the ice cream!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

Ok, we almost didn't go in after driving up to what looked to be a ramshackle building with an empty parking lot, relatively late on a Thursday night. But hey....we wanted ice cream. It is an old place - definitely feels like you're stepping back in time. But this really is fabulous ice cream! Not sure where it comes from -- seemed to be exactly the same flavors as what's in the parlor in downtown Alameda. But when you're guaranteed to get several whole nuts in each bite of either pistachio or tin roof, and the scoops are the same size as Alameda, but total $3 less for two singles, you just can't beat it. Try it.

“Yum!”
Reviewed April 24, 2013 via mobile

While yes this place is a bit weathered and so is the Fu Manchu working behind the counter no doubt this place has a lot of character and some rather amazing ice cream at a good price. Bring my daughter here often!

“Creamy delight!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

We were staying with friends who are life long residents of San Leandro. They've gone to Clancy's since they were kids and were eager to share it with us. We were not disappointed in the least. It truly is a creamy delight! There are so many flavors to choose from. There are your standard vanilla, chocolate, fudge etc, but there is also strawberry cheesecake, peach, and my personal favorite, Purple Yam, and other strange but delicious flavors. The Purple Yam was amazing! Wasn't sure what it would taste like ,but it was great! Think of mashed yams with cream in frozen form. Loved the variety and the scoop size. They give you HUGE scoops. It's a family owned joint and yes the decor is outdated, but that only adds to its charm. Eat at Porky's Pizza for dinner, then stroll across the street to Clancy's for a perfect, cheap night out.

“took a stroll there”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

I was nearby and took a stroll there on a hot day. I was suprised how 3 things we bought ran up past $25, I was not happy how a few extras was so expensive. Oh well next time try something else. The ice cream was o.k. and the service alittle slow since only one person was behind the counter.
