We made a reservation in advance. We got perfect patio seating near the fireplace and waterfalls. Everyone in our party loved their entrees and appetizers. Highlights: cedar plank roasted salmon, calamari, shrimp stir fry, turkey brie sandwich, the house margaritas, and the fruit dessert-peaches on a walnut crust. The food was fresh and delicious, service was excellent, and the ambiance brought it all together in a beautiful garden on a sunny day.

My family and I celebrated Father's Day at Cedar Creek Inn on the day before Father's Day because of my work schedule. We made reservations online for 9 people. On the morning of our visit, I called to request that we be seated outside on the patio. The hostess was very pleasant on the phone, answered all of my questions, and said that she would reserve a great spot for us. Parking was a bit of a challenge in busy downtown San Juan Capistrano on a beautiful Saturday in June, but we all found parking in and around the many small parking lots in the area.

The two tables that had been reserved for us were indeed in a perfect location on the patio. We were adjacent to the 2 fountains and fireplace, and it was so nice to listen to the fountains and watch the little birds hop into the fountains for a drink on a warm summer day. The patio was so beautiful and relaxing. The cover of the patio filters just the right amount of sunlight so that it is bright and warm without being too hot or uncomfortable. We also noticed heaters hanging from the patio cover for use when the temperature cools down. There is a beautiful tree growing in the middle of the patio and flowering vines growing on the walls around the sides. None of us wanted to leave because the setting was just so nice and relaxing.

Everyone loved the food and drinks that they ordered. Some of the highlights: The fried calamari and zuni roll appetizers were delicious. My dad said his margarita was excellent, as was his shrimp stir fry. My in-laws both got salmon cooked on a cedar plank and said it was some of the best salmon they've ever had. My wife enjoyed her seafood salad a great deal and said that the seafood tasted very fresh. The grilled ahi sandwich and turkey-strawberry-brie sandwiches were said to be very good. I got the Beef Ortega sandwich. The beef was thinly sliced and pretty tender. The ortega chiles added good flavor and were not spicy.

Our waiter was very good and attentive. He knew the menu well and was able to answer questions and make recommendations.

The beautiful patio and excellent food really helped make our Father's Day celebration memorable and enjoyable. We are so glad that we found this place on TripAdvisor!

The Cedar Creek Inn is located across from the Mission.
They have seating in and out and the dining room is attractive.
The food was well prepared and served hot.
Prices were fair for what you get.
Some interesting menu items and specials as well.
A great place to take family or friends.
