“May the Peace Be With You”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

This is a very mystical place. I used to come here as a teenager because I had never felt such spirituality before and it mesmerized me. It feels the same to this day. To walk through the ruins of this mission, to feel the lives of the people who have lived and died here, to sit in the peace of Serra's Chapel - is a meditative experience in itself. Cherish the time you have here. Immerse yourself in it. You will feel the magic of the place. It's as though this place has an ancient wisdom of its own. It truly is other-wordly. A good day is to ride your bike from Dana Point along the canals to the Mission (about 5 miles), visit the Mission, have lunch in Capistrano, and ride back to Dana Point. Visiting the Mission on Wednesday is good, too, as you can take a tour of the gardens with the "Gardening Angels" (!). .... such a good boost for your spirit.

This beautiful mission and grounds are a must-see for visitors to Southern California. The self-guided audio tour, included in the modest admission price, brings all of the history and beauty to life.

“Great Experience - to see and learn history”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This is a place to visit. Not only do you see the artifacts - you also hear a narrative being told to you through a handheld personal speaker (that your wear around your neck) all about the different exhibits your are viewing. It is so interesting to learn about the history of the mission and the surrounding area - it's people and how it became to be. You will spend hours there and then there's the town itself to explore. Great Place to visit for under $9.00 per person!

“Family fun- perfect day trip!”
Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

We took the train and walked to the mission. Easy to find and not far from the train station. Admission includes a hand held audio tour that the kids LOVED! (Ages 7&9). Those things kept them engaged and moving from one exhibit to another. We went on a Friday and there were school groups, but that wasn't a problem till the gift shop. We stayed till after the school groups left and boy was it peaceful! The gardens are beautiful and the ruin of the church humbling. We will be back!

“Very nice place to remember the time of the missions in the western coast!”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

This site has been preserved by chance. It was a private property that was kept in reasonable condition, until it became a historical attraction. They did a wonderful job restoring the buildings and collecting pieces that facilitate understanding the missions and they role in the development of that part of the country. It have a real beautiful antique church where you can pray and light some candle in honor of San Juan Capistrano. The flowers and the garden are other high point in the visit. The ruins of the big church and the walk around the mission grounds give us an idea how it was living in this kind of setting a long time ago. No doubt it worth the travel and the visit!!
